Isak Rosén's Natural Hat Trick, Ratzlaff Shutout Lead Amerks 4-0
Isak Rosén scored a natural hat trick and rookie Scott Ratzlaff posted a 25-save shutout as Rochester defeated Springfield 4-0, a momentum-boosting win to close their homestand.

Rochester rode Isak Rosén’s scoring surge and rookie Scott Ratzlaff’s calm netminding to a 4-0 win over the Springfield Thunderbirds at Blue Cross Arena, closing out a season-long six-game homestand. Rosén recorded a natural hat trick and Ratzlaff turned aside 25 shots in a performance that combined finishing touch and goaltending steadiness.
Rosén opened the scoring at 8:04 of the first and finished with three goals (3+0). Rosén notched his second three-goal outing in his last eight AHL games and his first natural hat trick of his career. The milestone also marked Rochester’s first home hat trick since Jiri Kulich netted a three-goal, four-point game on April 13, 2024 versus Belleville. Rosén and Konsta Helenius returned to Rochester’s lineup after being reassigned by the Buffalo Sabres, and Zac Jones, who was also reassigned, finished with an assist.
Ratzlaff’s 25-save shutout underpinned a team defensive effort that kept Springfield off the board. With goaltenders Scott Ratzlaff and Devon Levi each having at least one shutout this season, it marks the first time the Amerks have had two different netminders done so since the 2022-23 campaign (Malcolm Subban-2, Michael Houser-1). The rookie designation attached to Ratzlaff in team notes highlights the developmental upside the organization is tracking between the pipes.
Secondary contributions were decisive in setting up Rosén and preserving the shutout. Konsta Helenius finished with two assists (0+2), recording his 13th career multi-point effort with the Amerks. The Amerks improved to 12-0-2-0 when Konsta Helenius has a multi-point game while also outscoring the opposition 64-29 over that span. Zac Jones’ assist added veteran puck-moving depth after his reassignment.

The victory pushed Rochester’s record to 22-16-4-2 while Springfield fell to 16-23-4-2. The Amerks, who began their homestand with a 3-0 shutout, went 3-3-0-0 in the six-game stretch, with two of those wins coming against Atlantic Division opponents Hershey and Springfield. With the win, Rochester, which has points in 18 of its last 26 games dating back to Nov. 22, 2025, have won each of its last four games against Springfield dating back to Jan. 20, 2024.
Rochester leaves the Blue Cross Arena having turned a middling homestand into a statement final night: Rosén’s hot hand and Ratzlaff’s emergence give the Amerks a scoring punch and goaltending depth to lean on as they move into the next phase of the schedule, and the club’s recent stretch of points suggests that momentum could carry into the coming weeks.
