The Picklr opens 12-court indoor pickleball club in Avon, Indiana

The biggest immediate change for Avon players is simple: 12 indoor courts are about to turn a former Big Lots in Shiloh Crossing Shopping Center into a weather-proof pickleball hub. The Picklr’s new 35,000-square-foot club at 10321 E US Hwy 36 will open June 6 with enough space to move local play off outdoor courts and into a year-round setting built for leagues, tournaments and daily runs.

Two of the courts are championship-sized, and the surface work comes from Just Courts, which the company names as the official court layer of the Professional Pickleball Association. That matters in a sport where court quality affects how players move, how matches feel and where serious amateurs choose to spend their money. The Avon location is also loaded with the kind of extras that suggest this is meant to be a destination, not just a place to reserve a court: a full-service pro shop, community event space, locker rooms with showers, a beer tap wall and a Picklr Mobility Zone with TRX training equipment.

The opening package is aimed squarely at repeat players. The Picklr says its membership model includes unlimited open play, league and tournament access, and court reservations without extra fees once a member pays the monthly or annual rate. The company also offers a trial membership that gives new players 15 days of full access, along with a $30 option that includes court reservations, open play, leagues, tournaments and four P-Series clinic passes. The Avon location page also lists programs, professionals and memberships, a sign that the club is being built with formal coaching and organized play in mind.

The grand opening on June 6 will run from noon to 5 p.m. and will include open play, a dinking competition, food trucks, a drink station, raffles and a six-month membership giveaway. Franchise owners said the west side of Indianapolis had been asking for a top-tier indoor venue, and The Picklr said Avon is the third of up to six clubs planned for the greater Indianapolis area. A North Mass Indianapolis site is slated for fall 2026, while a separate Westfield location was announced earlier with a 32,000-square-foot footprint and the same 12-court, two-championship-court model.

For Hendricks County, the opening fits a broader shift already underway. Visitors materials there have pointed to pickleball as part of the county’s alternative-sports mix, and The Picklr’s Avon build shows how fast that mix is moving toward large indoor clubs, member programming and repurposed big-box retail.
