That matters because HEMA Ratings is built to collect results from as many HEMA tournaments as possible and turn them into ratings. When one tournament accounts for 152 fights in a category as broad as single rapier, the board does not just record activity. It absorbs the shape of that weekend, from how deep the field was to how much room there was for new entrants to break in.

Tess Gardner is the clearest new name to emerge from the July update, and the presence of five debuts says the division is still drawing fresh competitors rather than recycling only the same established bracket regulars. But the scale of the month also keeps that reading in check.
