FRIDAY launches Aura paddles in Manila debut event
FRIDAY turned a Manila paddle launch into a BGC activation, pairing Aura Pro and Aura paddles with exhibition matches, pro players and a fast-growing market.

FRIDAY used its Manila debut to send a bigger signal than a simple product drop. At Toby’s Sports in Bonifacio Global City, the brand unveiled its Aura Pro and Aura paddle lines on Sunday, May 17, 2026, then folded the launch into Weekend Pickleball Games at 5th Ave. Central, C1, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The setup included open play, exhibition matches, crowd challenges and giveaways, turning the debut into a public showing of how far pickleball has moved beyond a niche hobby in the Philippines.
The paddles themselves were pitched as full-foam Gen 4 models, with shiny edge guards and performance features aimed at players who want a more advanced feel without being priced out of the category. FRIDAY’s message was clear: this is a fun-first brand, but not a casual one. Co-founder Jake Triplett said the sport should be “fun, social and accessible,” a line that fit the mix of consumer energy and competitive credibility on display. PPA professionals and FRIDAY ambassadors Kevin Dong and James Lin were part of the event, giving the launch more weight than a standard retail appearance and making it relevant to players who care about equipment advantages as much as brand theater.
That matters in Manila because the local scene is no longer operating like an early-stage curiosity. The Philippine Pickleball Federation has already announced a unified national framework to support player development and career pathways, and it is recognized by both the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee. The first-ever Philippine Pickleball National Championship was held from May 30 to June 1, 2025, which put a formal competitive structure around a sport that had been growing fast in gyms, clubs and mixed-use courts.
FRIDAY is arriving into that environment at a time when the region is getting harder to ignore. PPA Tour Asia has said it is targeting Asia’s fastest-growing markets, while a Bonafide Research forecast cited by Pickleball.com projected Asia’s pickleball market annual growth rate could exceed 24.5% from 2024 to 2029. PPA Tour Asia also announced in July 2025 that it would host tournaments at the planned Helios Pickleball complex in Pasig City beginning in 2027, at a facility expected to feature 25 professional-grade courts. In that context, the BGC launch looked less like a one-off brand moment and more like proof that Manila is becoming a place where premium gear, organized competition and public-facing pickleball culture are starting to move together.
