Hong Kong Slam set to offer Asia’s biggest pickleball prize purse

Hong Kong will host the first-ever Slam in Asia, and PPA Tour Asia has put up to US$1.1 million, about HK$8.58 million, on the October 19-25, 2026 event. The Hong Kong Slam is also set as the final stop of the 2026 season, which gives the tournament both the biggest purse and the biggest calendar slot on the regional schedule.

That is more than a headline number. With up to 1,500 ranking points attached, Hong Kong will matter on the money side and the points side, the two currencies that usually decide where the top players go next. In a circuit that opened its inaugural 2025 run with five tournaments, starting in Malaysia in July before moving through an East Asian swing that included Vietnam, Japan and China, the leap to a Hong Kong finale turns one stop into the financial center of the tour.

The scale also changes the shape of the bracket. A purse this large is built to pull more international names into the draw, because players chasing ranking points and prize money rarely pass up a chance to collect both in the same week. If the event delivers on that promise, Hong Kong will not just be another Asian tour date. It will become the kind of stop that can change who shows up, how deep the field gets and how much attention the region gives the sport.

For Hong Kong’s own players, the event lands with even more weight. Ryan Lam, the world No. 1 in WPC rankings, called the season-ending tournament “a valuable experience and real challenge” in front of a home crowd. Lam is part of Hong Kong’s first generation of pro pickleball athletes, which makes the Slam a rare chance for the city’s homegrown players to test themselves against a field built for the top end of the sport.

The broader market is moving in the same direction. A UPA Asia and YouGov Singapore study surveyed more than 14,000 respondents across 12 territories and framed Asia as pickleball’s next frontier. Put that next to Hong Kong’s record purse, and the picture is clear: the city is not being positioned as a side event, but as a centerpiece of the region’s pro calendar, with the money, points and timing to prove it.
