Thai Pickleball Stars Sweep Bangkok Showcase as Regional Rivals Shine
Bangkok’s new Racquet Realm hosted a ranking-point showdown where Thailand swept two finals, while Japan and India each left with gold of their own.

The Racquet Realm turned Bangkok into a regional checkpoint for pickleball, and the medal board made the point fast: Thailand swept the women’s and mixed finals, Japan and India combined to take the men’s title, and India also opened the tournament with a singles gold. At a Tier Level 3 event tied to Thailand ranking points, the city’s newest racquet-sports venue gave the region a stage where Thai, Japanese and Indian contenders all mattered.
The women’s open doubles final delivered the cleanest Thai statement. Phraephoi Mahanilthapanee and Thapanee Pormma edged Pemika Cunaviriyasi and Lo Pay Jyue 21-17, 21-19, a scoreline that showed how quickly the match tightened before the champions closed it out. Behind them, Arrisara Suthijinda and Thanyalak Suthijin took bronze in convincing fashion over Diana Hughes and Grace Woo, another sign that the Thai depth pool is no longer just producing one pair at a time.

The men’s title traveled across borders. Zen Yoshida of Japan and Mayur Patil of India outlasted Thailand’s Poom Sornbutnark and Worawut Klinruen in three games after dropping the opener, a result that underscored how far the doubles game has spread beyond any single national program. The opening day also mattered in the singles bracket, where Athaaf Neema of India won the men’s 19+ Pro title and Praeploy of Thailand captured the women’s 19+ Pro crown, giving the Bangkok stop a broader competitive footprint than the final weekend medals alone.
The mixed doubles final brought the home side back on top. Worawut Klinruen and Arrisara Suthijinda beat Mayur Patil and Thanyalak Suthijin after splitting the first two games and then taking the decider in a tight finish. It was the kind of result that fits Bangkok’s growing role in the sport’s regional map: a Thai pair winning on home courts, but only after being pushed hard by Indian opposition that had already taken gold in the men’s draw.

That mix of results is what gives Bangkok’s 2026 calendar meaning beyond one event. The tournament, announced for May 2-4 and registered through Pickleball Global with players required to link a DUPR account, sat inside a busy year for the city. Bangkok had already hosted the WPC Asia Pickleball Open at The Mall Bangkapi in March, where Indian players reportedly took two golds and one silver. With The Racquet Realm now in the picture, Bangkok is no longer just a stopover. It is becoming a crossroads where the region’s best players can test themselves, earn points and build the cross-border rivalries that professional pickleball now needs.
