Charlotte Knights Prospects Shine During Day 2 At Camelback Ranch
Prospect Tanner McDougal headlined Day 2 at Camelback Ranch, with big leaguers buzzing about Braden Montgomery, Hagen Smith, and Noah Schultz as future Charlotte Knights.

The smell of a weekly team BBQ drifting across Camelback Ranch set the tone for a packed second day of White Sox spring training, and the Charlotte Knights' pipeline had plenty to show for it.
Tanner McDougal was the centerpiece of the day's coverage, sitting down to answer questions about life at spring training and what it takes to navigate the balance between the looseness of February and March baseball and the real pressure of competing for a roster spot. He didn't overthink the tension. "We're all here to do a job," McDougal said, even as he acknowledged the camaraderie that runs through camp. That combination of focus and fellowship is exactly what scouts and development staffs hope to see from prospects at this stage.
McDougal also offered some perspective that stretched beyond the field. Asked for advice to parents of young athletes, he was direct: "Let the youth be the youth. Let them play different sports. You're never going to win when you try to force a young kid to do something he or she doesn't want to do."
McDougal wasn't the only name generating buzz at Camelback Ranch. Several current White Sox players who came up through Charlotte were quick to flag the next wave of prospects headed to Truist Field. Braden Montgomery, Hagen Smith, and Noah Schultz were all mentioned by big leaguers as younger players who could surface in Charlotte soon. Former Knight and current White Sox pitcher Davis Martin also reflected on his time in Charlotte, a reminder of how direct the path from Truist Field to the major leagues has become under this organization.

The day also included a tour of Camelback Ranch, the sprawling complex shared by the White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the more unusual arrangements in the Cactus League. The facility walk-through gave a sense of the infrastructure behind a major league operation and the environment these prospects train in daily.
Tomorrow's stars are here today, or at Truist Field on March 27th when the Charlotte Knights open things up at home. The pipeline running through Camelback Ranch gave every reason to believe the wait will be worth it.
