Clippers Down WooSox 7-4, Allen Leads Balanced Columbus Attack
L.T. Allen limited Worcester's bats through the middle innings and Dayan Frías keyed a spread-out attack as the Clippers beat the WooSox 7-4 at Polar Park.

L.T. Allen gave Columbus the foundation it needed and Dayan Frías supplied the firepower as the Clippers outlasted the Worcester Red Sox 7-4 Thursday at Polar Park, hitting back against a WooSox club that had rallied to win the previous game in the six-game series.
Allen worked into the middle innings without allowing Worcester to string together a decisive rally. The left-hander, who has bounced between Columbus and the Cleveland Guardians at the MLB level, kept the WooSox lineup manageable while his offense built a multi-run cushion behind him. The Clippers' bullpen then took over and preserved the lead, holding Worcester to four total runs as Columbus closed out a clean victory on the road.
The offense did its damage across multiple innings rather than in one blowout frame. Frías was among the primary contributors, delivering timely extra-base hits and productive at-bats that kept Worcester's pitching under constant pressure. Several other Clippers hitters chipped in RBIs throughout the game, giving the lineup a depth of production that Worcester was unable to match or counter late.
The win carried added weight given the series context. Worcester had won the second game of the six-game set on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-5 comeback victory, rallying from a three-run deficit and seizing control with three runs in the eighth inning. Columbus answered Thursday with a cleaner, more controlled performance. The Clippers scored early, added throughout the game, and never allowed the WooSox to fully threaten a repeat comeback.
For Columbus, the result keeps the Clippers competitive in the early International League standings while reinforcing confidence in both the starting rotation and the staff arms capable of providing length in relief. For Worcester, the loss raises questions about bullpen matchups and lineup construction against a Clippers unit that does not need a single big inning to put a game away.
The six-game series at Polar Park runs through the weekend, with both clubs still squarely in the mix to take the series before Columbus returns to Ohio.
