Joey Chestnut to Headline Oklahoma City Comets' Cinco de Mayo Food Challenge
Joey Chestnut will appear at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on May 5 to take part in a Cinco de Mayo–themed food challenge during the Oklahoma City Comets' 6:05 p.m. game vs. the Salt Lake Bees.

Joey Chestnut, the 42-year-old competitive eater nicknamed "Jaws," will headline a Cinco de Mayo food challenge at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark when the Oklahoma City Comets host the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:05 p.m. The Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, placed the Chestnut appearance squarely inside a busy promotional night that also includes Bark in the Park and the team's $2 Tuesday deals on select beers, sodas and bottled water.
Comets General Manager Kyle Daugherty framed Chestnut's visit as a marquee attraction for the club and its fans. “As the Triple‑A affiliate of the reigning back‑to‑back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, we know what greatness looks like,” said Daugherty. “In the world of competitive eating, nobody has ever been greater than Joey Chestnut. The term ‘G.O.A.T.’ is overused these days, but it is completely warranted when describing Joey.”
The team release preserved Chestnut's competitive résumé in full: aptly nicknamed “Jaws,” Chestnut holds 55 competitive eating world records, per Major League Eating, and has hoisted the Mustard Yellow Belt at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 17 times. This past year, Chestnut devoured 70.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to reclaim the title, facts the Comets emphasized while promoting the May 5 in‑game challenge.
The May 5 promotion is being staged as one of several fan experiences on the Diamond Baseball Holdings roster this season; the Comets described the Chestnut visit as part of the club's lineup of family-friendly ballpark experiences. Alongside the eating challenge and Bark in the Park, the Comets will run a $2 Tuesday promotion offering select beers, sodas and bottled water for $2, a pricing hook aimed at drawing early-week crowds for the 6:05 p.m. start.
Tickets for the May 5 game are available now through the Comets' official box office channels or by calling (405) 218-1000. Special VIP ticket packages that include meet-and-greet opportunities and dugout packages are also now available, and additional information can be obtained by calling (405) 218-2182. The club announced the appearance in a team release distributed Feb. 25, 2026 as part of its broader season rollout that has included notices about the 2026 coaching staff, single-game ticket sales and an annual job fair.
Expect the Chestnut appearance to be a focal point of the Comets' early-season promotions; the May 5 game pairs a high-profile personality with family-friendly programming at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and a matchup against the Salt Lake Bees, the Los Angeles Angels’ Triple-A affiliate.
