MLB Spring Breakout 2026 Rosters Revealed, Games Set for March 19-22
MLB revealed Spring Breakout rosters featuring 91 of the top 100 prospects, with 16 games set March 19-22 and Pirates SS Konnor Griffin headlining a primetime Peacock broadcast.

The third annual Spring Breakout will pack 16 prospect games into four days starting March 19, and Major League Baseball's roster announcement made one thing immediately clear: this is the most talent-dense version of the showcase yet. The 40-man player pool rosters, which will be trimmed to 27-man rosters on March 16, include 91 of the top 100 prospects according to MLB Pipeline, with 28 organizational No. 1 prospects and 28 No. 2 prospects represented across the pools.
The structure breaks down to 11 standalone games at Major League Spring Training venues and five played as single-admission doubleheaders alongside MLB Spring Training games. The Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies will each play two Spring Breakout games, an arrangement made necessary by the odd number of teams in Arizona and Florida during spring training. Every other organization plays once.
The marquee matchup on the schedule is a primetime game that will air on both MLB Network and Peacock, featuring Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin and Tigers shortstop Kevin McGonigle as the headliners. Both prospects are listed as competing for MLB roster spots, which makes their Spring Breakout availability notable rather than guaranteed. If they play, it will be the highest-profile individual prospect matchup of the four-day stretch. The Tigers bring additional firepower around McGonigle: outfielder Max Clark (No. 2), catcher/first baseman Josue Briceño (No. 4), shortstop Jordan Yost (No. 5), second baseman/third baseman Hao Yu-Lee (No. 6), and second baseman Max Anderson (No. 7). Detroit's pitching depth on the preliminary staff is thin, with only right-handers Dylan Smith and Ty Madden ranking among the organization's top prospects.
The first game of the slate tips off Thursday, March 19 at 12:05 p.m. ET when the Marlins visit the Astros at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida, airing on Space City Home Network. The Astros' preliminary pool reads like a draft class reunion: shortstop Xavier Neyens (No. 1), outfielder Ethan Frey (No. 2), second baseman Brice Matthews (No. 3), outfielder Kevin Alvarez (No. 5), and catcher Walker Janek (No. 7) anchor the position group, while right-handers A.J. Blubaugh (No. 4), Ethan Pecko (No. 6), Bryce Mayer (No. 8), Ryan Forcucci (No. 9), and Miguel Ullola (No. 11) give Houston a loaded pitching preview.
Saturday, March 21 is the busiest day on the roster ledger. The Dodgers face the Chicago White Sox at 3:30 p.m. PT, on the same day Los Angeles also has a Cactus League game against the Athletics. The Yankees, whose preliminary player pool includes 22 former Hudson Valley Renegades, are also scheduled for March 21.

On the broadcast side, MLB Network will carry eight of the 16 games live and the remaining eight on tape delay. Regardless of the MLBN schedule, all 16 games stream live and blackout-free on MLB.TV, MLB.com, and the MLB App, with additional distribution through local RSNs and partner platforms including the Amazon MLB FAST Channel.
Beyond the elite prospect concentration, the rosters carry notable breadth. Players from 23 countries and territories are represented, including Australia, Colombia, France, Japan, New Zealand, Panama, Slovakia, Spain, and Taiwan. Thirty-nine players in the pools are alumni of the Nike RBI and MLB Develops programs, with representation from the DREAM Series, Breakthrough Series, MLB Youth Academies, and the Hank Aaron Invitational.
Roster eligibility is prospect-only: each team's pool is built using its MLB Pipeline Top 30 as the foundation, with any player retaining 2026 rookie eligibility qualifying. That rule keeps players like Dodgers outfielder Alex Freeland in consideration despite prior MLB time. Tickets are currently available, with the final 27-man rosters set to be confirmed on March 16.
