Oklahoma City Comets beat Reno Aces, extend winning streak to six
A three-run first and Chayce McDermott’s five-out save pushed Oklahoma City past Reno 6-4, extending a six-game run that is tightening the Dodgers depth chart.

A three-run first inning and a five-out save from Chayce McDermott kept Oklahoma City rolling, as the Comets beat the Reno Aces 6-4 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and stretched their winning streak to six.
The victory lifted Oklahoma City to 26-20 and kept the club 1.5 games out of first place in the Pacific Coast League first-half standings. It also extended a sharp run that has seen the Comets go 13-4 since April 30, with six or more runs scored in six straight games and in 14 of their previous 16. For a Triple-A team, that kind of consistency matters because it is not just winning games, it is building the kind of depth and late-inning poise that travels when the Dodgers need reinforcements.

Oklahoma City set the tone immediately. Jack Suwinski and Ryan Fitzgerald delivered back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the first inning, and a Reno throwing error brought in a third run. The Comets added another in the third on a fielder’s choice, then got a sixth-inning RBI groundout from Chuckie Robinson to build enough separation to survive Reno’s three-run eighth.
Christian Romero gave Oklahoma City a sturdy start, allowing one run on five hits over 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks on a season-high 96 pitches. McDermott took over with two runners on and one out in the eighth, issued a walk, then struck out the final two hitters he faced to protect the lead. He returned for a clean ninth to finish a five-out save, the sort of late-inning outing that can reshape bullpen decisions when the big-league club starts looking for fresh arms.
The win also deepened the roster picture around a few players who are pushing on multiple fronts. Noah Miller homered and extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 14-for-38 with two doubles, two triples, three homers and 10 RBI over that span. Tyler Fitzgerald also stretched his hitting streak to nine games, going 13-for-33 with three doubles, three homers and 14 RBI. Kiké Hernández continued his major league rehab assignment and played his 10th game for Oklahoma City, while Alex Freeland remained part of a lineup that has helped fuel the surge.
The Comets have now taken the first two games of the series against Reno, their first 2-0 series lead since April 21-22 against Tacoma. Wednesday’s result followed Tuesday’s 6-3 win, when Oklahoma City broke through with six runs in the sixth inning. Six straight wins is the club’s longest run since a six-game stretch on the road through Sacramento and Reno from July 18-24, 2025, and this one is starting to look less like a hot week than a statement about what Oklahoma City can supply when the Dodgers need it most.
