Rangers Outright Díaz, Option MacIver to Triple-A Round Rock
Alexis Díaz, a former All-Star with 75 career saves, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock after the Rangers signed Jalen Beeks.

Alexis Díaz's time with the Texas Rangers appears to be over, though the former All-Star closer now holds the cards on what comes next.
The Rangers outrighted Díaz to Triple-A Round Rock on March 15 after the right-handed reliever cleared waivers, a move triggered by Texas signing fellow reliever Jalen Beeks to a Major League contract. With more than three years of MLB service time, Díaz retains the right to reject the outright assignment and instead test the free agent market. The Rangers have 75 career saves worth of bullpen experience sitting in organizational limbo until Díaz makes that decision.
Díaz was designated for assignment to clear roster space for Beeks, a move that underscores how quickly a team's relief priorities can shift during the final crunch of spring training. The club has not indicated publicly whether Díaz has made any decision about exercising his right to elect free agency.
Catcher Willie MacIver was also optioned to Round Rock on March 15 to open the season, giving the Express an experienced receiver as the Pacific Coast League campaign approaches. Pitcher Jose Corniell was optioned as well, though sources conflict on his destination: some transaction reports list Round Rock while the Las Vegas Sun's official transactions summary places him at Double-A Frisco in the Texas League. That discrepancy has not been officially resolved.

The Rangers completed their March 15 roster work by sending infielder Jonah Bride, pitcher Gavin Collyer, and infielder Cameron Cauley to Minor League camp.
Texas was far from alone in trimming rosters. The Marlins optioned catcher Joe Mack, considered one of Miami's top hitting prospects, to Triple-A Jacksonville after he slashed .125/.222/.250 with seven strikeouts in nine spring games. The Orioles optioned left-hander Cade Povich to Triple-A Norfolk, while the Cardinals sent reliever Ryan Fernandez to Triple-A Memphis. The Mets reassigned nine players to Minor League camp, and the Phillies optioned outfielder Pedro Leon and right-hander Nolan Hoffman to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
For Round Rock, the Díaz and MacIver additions give the Express notable big-league pedigree entering the 2026 season. Whether Díaz is actually in a Round Rock uniform when the PCL opens is a question only Díaz can answer.
