Rochester Red Wings Reveal Opening Week Homestand Schedule, Promotions for ESL Ballpark
The Red Wings open at ESL Ballpark on Tuesday against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, with Fred Costello performing the national anthem at age 90 and Dan Mason's 50-degree guarantee on the line.

The Red Wings take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the New York Yankees' top affiliate, for the first week of the 2026 season at ESL Ballpark, and the club has laid out a game-by-game homestand preview packed with giveaways, ceremonial moments and food specials for the March 31 through April 5 series.
Tuesday, March 31 is Opening Day at ESL Ballpark, presented by CharBroil, with pre-game ceremonies starting at 3:15 p.m. Incoming ESL Federal Credit Union President and CEO Tom Rogers will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the season. The moment carries extra weight because of who will be performing the national anthem: Red Wings and Rochester Music Hall of Famer Fred Costello, celebrating his 50th season as team organist and his 90th birthday on March 29, will perform the national anthem.
The giveaway lineup for Opening Day is front-loaded. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Red Wings knit hat presented by ESL, and the first 5,000 fans will receive a 2026 magnet schedule presented by iEvolve Technology. A Red Wings player will sign autographs in a 20-minute session starting 45 minutes before first pitch, presented by iSmash Rochester. On the concessions side, food specials include jambalaya at Black Angus, mozzarella sticks at Batter Up, and chicken noodle soup and meatballs in a cup at Home Plate.
It wouldn't be a Red Wings home opener without General Manager Dan Mason putting himself on the line. Mason, known around the ballpark as "The Duke of Doppler," has once again made his 50-degree guarantee for Opening Day: should the temperature fail to reach 50 degrees as indicated on the ballpark thermometer in the right field bullpen during the March 31 game, fans may redeem their ticket for any other home game in April or May during the 2026 season.
The week closes on Easter Sunday, April 5, with another game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Kids can enjoy the Easter Sunday tradition of a pre-game on-field Easter Egg Hunt with Spikes, Mittsy, and the Easter Bunny. The April 5 game also serves as Knot Hole Kids Club Day, celebrating the 100th season of the club, which has served Wings fans ages 4 to 12 since 1927; in 2026, every Sunday home game will be a Knot Hole Kids Club game.

The Opening Week series carries some historical weight beyond just the first pitch. The Red Wings' home opener against the Yankees' top affiliate on March 31 is tied for the earliest home start in team history, matching the previous mark set on March 31, 2023. Rochester's 2026 regular-season schedule features 150 games.
The ballpark itself is also under a new identity heading into the season. On February 10, 2026, Monroe County and the Red Wings announced a new naming rights agreement with ESL Federal Credit Union. The deal begins at $550,000 this season before increasing by 2% annually and is initially for 10 seasons with extension options, making ESL Ballpark the third name for a stadium that originally opened as Frontier Field in 1997 before becoming Innovative Field in 2023.
The Red Wings' full preliminary promotional schedule for 2026 has also been released, ahead of the March 31 home opener. The schedule will comprise 21 fireworks nights, 13 chances for kids to run the bases, six replica jersey giveaways, and three bobblehead giveaways. The ninth annual Baseball's Back Bash, presented by Zweigle's, was held on Friday, March 20 at ESL Ballpark, offering free entry with free Zweigle's hot dogs, $2 draft beers, and $1 soda.
Tickets for all Red Wings home games are available at RedWingsBaseball.com, by phone at (585) 423-WING (9464), or in person at the Red Wings Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
