Ross County Health District Baby Shower Connects New Mothers to Community Resources
Ross County Health District's free May 13 baby shower will connect pregnant women and new mothers in Chillicothe to home visiting programs backed by three managed-care sponsors.

The Ross County Health District will transform a community celebration into a direct referral pathway for maternal and infant health services when it hosts a free Help Me Grow Community Baby Shower on May 13 at the Adena PACCAR Medical Education Center in Chillicothe. The event runs from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and is open to pregnant women and mothers of infants up to six months old.
Alongside door prizes, food, and games, the afternoon will feature exhibit tables staffed by program representatives from CareSource, Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio, and Molina Healthcare of Ohio. Those tables are the operational core of the event: sponsors will conduct on-site referrals and enrollment for ongoing programs, including home visiting, safe-sleep education, and developmental support services connected to Ohio's Help Me Grow system.
Help Me Grow is a statewide, evidence-based framework built around early childhood development and connecting families to community supports before problems compound. By embedding the model inside a baby shower format, RCHD is using a deliberately low-barrier setting to reach families who might not seek out clinical or government offices on their own. The afternoon-to-evening window is intentional: scheduling the event between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. extends access to working caregivers who could not attend a midday appointment.
The presence of three managed-care organizations as co-sponsors reflects a broader shift in how public health agencies are financing community outreach. CareSource, Humana Healthy Horizons, and Molina Healthcare each carry state contracts tied to maternal and child health outcomes, giving them a direct stake in early enrollment into programs like WIC and home visiting.
Registration details and volunteer inquiries are available through the Ross County Health District's website.
