Kansas FAIR Plan selects Finys Suite for core insurance processing

Kansas FAIR Plan selected the Finys Suite as its core insurance processing system, putting policy, billing, claims, business intelligence and portals under one cloud-based core. Kansas became the 13th FAIR Plan to choose the suite.

Kansas FAIR Plan, also known as the Kansas All-Industry Placement Facility, is a not-for-profit insurance association formed by Kansas insurers to provide basic property and casualty insurance for responsible applicants who have been unable to obtain coverage in the voluntary market. Kansas law makes the plan’s purpose to make available basic property and casualty insurance to people who cannot procure such coverage through the voluntary market. The carrier already runs an online policy system that lets agents get quotes, submit new applications and endorsements, make payments and print documents, while insureds can view documents and make payments through the client portal.

Residual-market carriers live on thin margins of staff time, compliance and service consistency, and Kansas wanted more than a straight software replacement. The carrier was looking for a long-term partner with FAIR Plan experience and a system that could reduce manual processes while improving customer support. The suite is expected to streamline inspection and endorsement workflows, strengthen reporting and auditability, and reduce the underwriting and administrative work that tends to slow these plans down.

The NAIC says FAIR plans were implemented in 26 states and the District of Columbia under the Urban Property Insurance Protection and Reinsurance Act of 1968, and that as of October 2024, 33 states had some sort of residual market plan.

Finys says its suite has been deployed across more than 750 state and line-of-business combinations, and elsewhere says more than 800. Kansas FAIR Plan’s office is in Topeka at 2942A SW Wanamaker Dr., Suite 250.
