Armed Robber in Clown Mask Steals $1,000 From Ville Platte Dollar General

A person wearing a clown Halloween mask, a black hoodie and ripped jeans entered the Dollar General on Tate Cove Road in Ville Platte and stole roughly $1,000 in cash after brandishing a firearm, police said. The robbery occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and investigators have released store surveillance images as they seek tips.

According to Ville Platte Police Chief A. Perry Thomas, “the footage shows someone in a black hoodie and ripped jeans walk in wearing a clown mask. That’s when they pulled out a black gun with an extended clip.” Detectives and store employees estimate the suspect left with around $1,000 in cash. Police haven’t identified the suspect yet.

Ville Platte Police Department released surveillance stills showing the masked suspect inside the store and asked the public for help. “If you know anything about the robbery or recognize details about the suspect’s clothing or behavior, call the Ville Platte Police Department at 337-363-1316. Police say all calls will remain anonymous.” Investigators describe the weapon only as a black firearm with an extended magazine or clip; no further weapons or suspect information has been confirmed.
