Woman Arrested After Crushing Victim Between Cars at Jackson Dollar General

A 20-year-old Jackson woman faces an aggravated assault charge after allegedly crushing another woman between two vehicles in a Dollar General parking lot, an incident captured on video that has since been viewed more than four million times online.

Jackson Police responded early Sunday morning to a disturbance at the Dollar General on 111 Old Hickory Boulevard. When officers arrived, they arrested Shanya Cliff on the aggravated assault charge. Police said they are still investigating the altercation.

The video's rapid spread drew sharp reactions from viewers. Some expressed concern for the victim, while others called the incident an embarrassment to the city. "People are out of control," one commenter wrote. Another posted, "I hope the girl's legs aren't broken." The identity of the victim and the extent of any injuries have not been confirmed in official reporting.

The incident at the Old Hickory Boulevard store is one of several recent Dollar General locations that have become scenes of violent altercations. In Chewelah, Washington, Winter R. Hastings, 44, was arrested on December 17 at the Dollar General at 513 S. Park St. after allegedly striking two employees with a closed fist while attempting to steal groceries and open the cash register. She had refused to show identification to buy cigarettes and was the store's first customer of the morning, arriving at approximately 8:20 a.m. A second employee called 911 and helped hold Hastings on the ground until police arrived. She was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of second-degree robbery and transported to Stevens County Jail.

In Ocala, Florida, a woman identified as Kayla Agee was detained after allegedly ramming her beige Nissan sedan into another vehicle in a Dollar General parking lot. According to reporting by WFTV, the victim had left her children inside a running car while going inside to buy pain medication. Agee allegedly yelled at the victim about leaving the children unattended, then aggressively reversed into the victim's car as the woman was returning a shopping cart. Agee left the scene but was stopped by deputies at a nearby Circle K gas station and detained without incident. She faces child abuse and battery charges, according to WFTV, which noted an internal age discrepancy in its own reporting, citing the defendant as both 24 and 26 years old.

Back in Jackson, the investigation into the Old Hickory Boulevard incident remains open. No additional suspects have been named publicly, and no statement from Dollar General corporate or the local store has been included in any of the reports.
