KPMG Spain sealed a strategic alliance with ESG software provider osapiens on March 26, pairing the firm's regulatory, audit, and advisory capabilities with osapiens' cloud-based compliance platform to help Spanish and EU-based clients navigate an increasingly demanding European sustainability regulatory environment.

The agreement combines KPMG's consulting and regulatory expertise with the osapiens ESG platform to deliver solutions for compliance with regulations including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is also explicitly covered under the partnership's scope. For KPMG professionals already advising clients on sustainability disclosures, the alliance adds a technology layer to what has largely been a manual, advisory-led process.

At the center of the joint offering is the osapiens HUB, a cloud-based platform through which companies can collect and bundle high-quality ESG data in a central location and digitize, automate, and analyze their sustainability-related processes with the help of AI. Together with KPMG's expertise in technical and regulatory advice, the alliance enables clients to implement sustainability strategies efficiently, meet due diligence requirements, and ensure legally compliant non-financial reporting.

Ramón Pueyo Viñuales, Partner and Head of Sustainability and Corporate Governance at KPMG Spain, framed the value proposition in terms of client outcomes: "The innovative osapiens platform, combined with KPMG's regulatory and strategic expertise, provides a solid foundation for our clients to address their compliance obligations and improve their operational efficiency."

Jaime Marijuán Castro, Head of Global Partnerships and Alliances at osapiens, said: "This collaboration creates significant value for businesses. Together, we're empowering them to simplify ESG compliance and lead the way toward a more sustainable economy."

More than 1,700 clients around the world already rely on the osapiens HUB, from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations. The Spain deal extends a relationship that began in Germany: the partnership builds on the successful collaboration between KPMG Germany and osapiens, established in 2023, which has already delivered significant value to organizations across multiple industries.

For auditors and advisory professionals at KPMG Spain, the alliance has direct implications for how sustainability engagements are scoped and staffed. The combined offering is positioned to deliver what KPMG describes as "legally compliant and audit-proof sustainability reporting and strategy," meaning the technical work of data collection and process automation sits with the osapiens platform while KPMG retains the assurance, regulatory interpretation, and strategic advisory role. That division of labor matters on partner track: it keeps the high-judgment advisory work, and client relationship ownership, squarely with KPMG professionals.

The osapiens HUB's AI-powered platform simplifies compliance, enhances transparency, and enables sustainable growth by integrating data across the supply chain, with a modular approach that adapts to evolving regulations like the EUDR. KPMG's own solutions content also positions the joint offering to address Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requirements, though the formal scope of CBAM coverage under the Spain-specific alliance has not been confirmed publicly.

The timing reflects a broader pressure building across EU corporate compliance teams. CSRD reporting obligations have expanded their reach to a wider cohort of companies in recent reporting cycles, and CSDDD due diligence requirements are layering on top of existing disclosure work. For KPMG Spain's sustainability practice, the osapiens alliance is a bet that clients will need more than spreadsheets and advisory memos to get across the line.
