Valencia McDonald's Roof Ignites Hours After Repairs, Store Temporarily Closed
A Valencia McDonald's roof caught fire hours after repair work was completed, forcing the restaurant to close until further notice with no injuries reported.

A roof fire at a McDonald's on Valencia Boulevard shut down the restaurant Wednesday afternoon, just hours after workers had finished repairs on the same roof.
Firefighters received reports of a commercial structure fire at the McDonald's in the 23000 block of Valencia Boulevard around 5:20 p.m. on March 12, according to Justin Yang, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. "First arriving units found smoke and fire coming from the roof of a local restaurant," Yang said.
The timing raised immediate questions about the earlier work. "Restaurant personnel stated roof repairs were done a few hours prior to the incident," Yang said, relaying what staff told authorities on scene. No official cause has been determined, and no causal link between the repairs and the fire has been established by investigators.

The fire left the roof and decking damaged, and light smoke filled the restaurant's interior, Yang said. The Valencia McDonald's was closed until further notice. No injuries were reported among patrons or firefighters.
The investigation into what ignited the fire remains ongoing. No statements from the franchise owner, McDonald's corporate, or the roofing contractor involved in the earlier work have been released, and no timeline for reopening has been given beyond the indefinite closure.
