Jeff Grubb’s latest timing call has put a mid-June Nintendo Direct on the industry radar, and the real draw may be whether Nintendo uses it to firm up FromSoftware’s Switch 2 lineup. Grubb said on the May 19 Giant Bomb stream that a presentation should arrive by mid-June, but he did not pin down the format. That leaves open either a full general Direct or a smaller Partner Showcase, even though some listeners took his comments as leaning toward the larger option.

The speculation lands at a useful moment for Nintendo. Summer Game Fest begins June 5, giving the company a nearby window to shape attention around Switch 2 software before the summer marketing cycle hardens. Nintendo is also under pressure to keep the new platform’s release calendar looking full beyond the first stretch of launch-season buzz, and third-party momentum matters as much as first-party polish when a system is trying to define its early identity.

FromSoftware gives the rumor its credibility. The studio officially announced The Duskbloods on April 2, 2025 as a Nintendo Switch 2 title for 2026. It is billed as a multiplayer action game built around PvPvE combat, with online play for up to eight players. The game’s official site still lists it as coming in 2026, and Kadokawa has reportedly reiterated that the title remains on that schedule.

ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition is the other obvious candidate. FromSoftware announced it on the same April 2, 2025 date for Switch 2, and Nintendo’s pages say the package includes the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree, and new weapons, armor, Torrent skins, and more. Nintendo also says ELDEN RING has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide, which gives the port unusual weight for a platform still building out its launch-year catalog.

There is still room for caution. FromSoftware said on October 23, 2025 that Tarnished Edition had been pushed to 2026 and that further announcements would follow once a specific release date was determined. That makes a June showcase a logical place to move from broad windows to real dates and gameplay footage. For Nintendo, that would do more than satisfy FromSoftware fans. It would show whether Switch 2 can land major third-party support early enough to matter in the broader business story of the platform.
