Jennie, BLACKPINK's 30-year-old global superstar, co-designed a full swimwear and apparel collection with Los Angeles-based Frankies Bikinis, and the campaign images that dropped this week make a compelling case for why this is one of the most considered celebrity-brand pairings of summer 2026.

Named JENNIE x Frankies Bikinis, the collection stretches well beyond the typical bikini collaboration. Drawing from vintage swimwear archives, it includes the Mina Boy Shorts, the Hana Top, a double-layered Astrid Top, and hand-crocheted pieces, alongside tees and sweats that cement the "swim-to-street" concept at the collection's core. The idea, that a bikini top belongs as much on a scooter ride along the shoreline as it does in the water, runs through every styling choice in the campaign, shot by photographer Alessio Albi. Jennie poses leaning out of a vintage Volkswagen bus, drives a black scooter down the beach, and appears alongside Frankies founder Francesca Aiello in matching white string swimsuits, a rare move that signals genuine creative partnership rather than celebrity endorsement dressed up as collaboration.

For Frankies, the collab follows partnerships with Victoria's Secret PINK, Kylie Jenner's Khy, and Realisation Par, but the Jennie partnership carries a different cultural weight. Aiello called it "the most natural and exciting creative partnership we've embarked on," and the collection's construction reflects that: the archived silhouettes and craft details, particularly the hand-crocheted pieces, suggest Jennie's input extended to the design room, not just the fitting room.

For Jennie, Frankies joins an already impressive roster of non-music collaborations: Beats, Gentle Monster, and adidas Originals. What distinguishes this one is the category. Swimwear demands a particular kind of confidence and physical self-expression, and Jennie, who told ELLE "I thought it would be a really cool opportunity to show my side of swimwear and create pieces that felt very me," leans into that rather than deflects from it. Her Instagram announcement drew over four million likes, suggesting the crossover between K-pop fandom and fashion commerce here is not theoretical.

The collection drops April 2 at 8 AM PT, available through the Frankies Bikinis website. With Jennie headlining The Governors Ball, Mad Cool Festival, Lollapalooza Chicago, and Summer Sonic in the months ahead, the timing positions JENNIE x Frankies Bikinis squarely in the middle of her most high-profile solo season yet.
