Skechers Opens 700-Square-Meter Copenhagen Flagship to Anchor Nordic Expansion
Skechers' new 700-square-meter Copenhagen flagship on Amagertorv is the brand's boldest Nordic statement yet, anchoring 32 Denmark stores with a mid-century-designed showroom.

Amagertorv has long been Copenhagen's commercial spine, the address where serious retail brands plant their flag. Skechers chose that address deliberately when it opened its first Copenhagen flagship at number 11 on April 9, putting 700 square meters of footwear, digital spectacle, and mid-century-inspired interiors into one of the city's most trafficked shopping corridors.
The store is not simply a larger version of the four Skechers concept shops already operating in the Danish capital. The design reads as a considered architectural statement: mid-century lines lit by state-of-the-art LED screens, Copenhagen-inspired graphics across the walls, and a giant Skechers Slip-ins shoe installed as a centrepiece display. The effect sits somewhere between gallery and retail floor, which appears to be exactly the intention. "Offering physical galleries where customers can walk in, explore and experience our product firsthand has transformed every part of our brand," said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers.
The floor plan covers every product family Skechers trades in: athleisure, lifestyle, casual, and work styles for men and women, a dedicated children's section, and a performance zone built around the brand's technical footwear across running, football, golf, basketball, and outdoor categories. Highlighted innovations include the Hands Free Slip-ins and Aero Burst technologies, which have driven much of the brand's recent consumer momentum globally.

Greenberg framed the Copenhagen opening as a culmination of deliberate Nordic growth rather than a speculative bet. "Skechers has experienced strong growth in the Nordics, particularly in Denmark. We have established a solid footprint across the region with 32 stores in the country, and our high-profile Copenhagen store has arrived at the right place and time to escalate our presence." Peter Jørgensen, country manager of Skechers Nordics, pointed to Amagertorv's specific commercial gravity: "Amagertorv provides a premium space with maximum visibility alongside strong international and Danish brands where we can showcase the full breadth of our universe and offer a footwear experience beyond the ordinary."
That visibility matters. At roughly 5,300 retail locations worldwide, Skechers has the scale to treat flagship openings as brand-building exercises as much as sales channels. The Copenhagen store sits in that same logic: a physical showroom designed to do work that performance data and social feeds cannot, connecting the full product range to consumers in a city that takes its footwear seriously. Whether the mid-century aesthetic lands as authentically Nordic or as imported Californian polish will be for Copenhagen shoppers to decide, but the address at Amagertorv 11 ensures the brand will not go unnoticed while they make up their minds.
