It's no longer enough for fashion retailers to stock a "conscious edit" and call it a sustainability strategy. THE ICONIC just put real infrastructure behind the rhetoric: a verified B Corp certification with a maiden score of 82.9, paired with the immediate expansion of its ReIconic circular hub to include a live online repairs and alterations service.

The announcement came out of Sydney on March 17, 2026. Awarded by B Lab, the certification places THE ICONIC inside a global community of businesses meeting verified standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Across B Corp's five impact areas of governance, workers, community, environment and customers, THE ICONIC was recognised for high standards of supply chain accountability, strong people and employment policies, and clear reporting. The score of 82.9 clears the qualifying threshold of 80 and sits well above the median score across all businesses of 50.9, a number that puts the gap in sharp relief.

Gayle Burchell, THE ICONIC's Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer, was direct about what the certification does and doesn't mean. "There is no question the fashion industry needs to do better. Customer facing initiatives like Hello Tailr's alterations and repair service are a great example of that endeavour, however are just one part of the broader efforts we're making." On the certification itself: "B Corp Certification isn't a finish line, it is a framework that helps maintain accountability. As we continue our journey, we are committed to continuous improvement and recognise our position of influence within the industry to contribute to collective change."

THE ICONIC simultaneously expanded its circular solutions hub, RE-ICONIC, with the new repairs and alterations service, powered by Australia-based tech startup Hello Tailr, giving customers access to professional tailoring to help them get the perfect fit and extend the life of their favourite pieces. Launching as a scalable pilot, the service initially focuses on simple alterations such as shortening and basic repairs for trousers and jeans, with customers able to book and pay online via Hello Tailr, send in their items, and have them professionally altered or repaired and returned. Priced between $7 and $50, excluding two-way postage, repairs are estimated to take up to five business days, not including shipping timeframes which vary by customer location. Customers can send items purchased on THE ICONIC or elsewhere, though the service is currently available to Australian customers only.

Hello Tailr partners with local social enterprises The Social Outfit, Second Stitch and The Social Studio to undertake the professional tailoring, supporting vulnerable communities through training, ethical wages and job opportunities. Hello Tailr founder Owen Parry called the collaboration a meaningful one on both counts: "We are proud to be working with THE ICONIC to offer its customers professional alterations and repair services and play a part in their circularity efforts. Customers can now access convenient, high-quality services and at the same time support our Social Enterprise Partners to provide meaningful job opportunities, skilled training and ethical wages."

The repair launch adds to a ReIconic ecosystem that already includes a pre-loved marketplace operating through partners CIRKULAR, Azura Reborn and The Real Deal, garment recycling via RCYCL, and in-warehouse rescue for items flagged for repair or upcycling. Taken together, the platform is building a circular loop that begins before purchase and extends well past it, treating repairs not as an awkward offline errand but as a native part of the online shopping experience.

The 2030 People & Planet Positive Strategy guiding these moves targets further carbon reductions in line with science-based targets, a broader assortment of preferred fibres, improved energy efficiency and minimised packaging. On current metrics, 20 per cent of THE ICONIC's assortment already meets social or environmental certifications, the platform runs on 100 per cent renewable energy in its operations, and it has reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 50 per cent ahead of its 2030 targets.

The repairs pilot is narrow by design, trousers and jeans only, straightforward hems and seams, the kind of scope that's actually achievable at scale before anyone starts claiming the whole wardrobe is covered. Getting the basics right before expanding is the smarter play, and if THE ICONIC's B Corp score is any signal, the infrastructure to back it up is already being built.
