Fashion outlets reported that Bollywood actor and environmental advocate Dia Mirza appeared in Anita Dongre’s Rewild 2026 collection in a nature-inspired Benarasi/Banarasi silk jacket set, a look framed as an extension of her environmental values. ELLE and News18 highlighted the eco-conscious brief behind Rewild, while Vogue India described the garment’s botanical intent and handwoven construction.

The jacket’s brocade is literal in its reference to nature. Vogue India noted it was “woven with palm and tropical tree motifs” and that “the metallic quality comes from the weave itself, giving it depth as she moves.” Elle India described the Benarasi weave as “alive with intricate botanical motifs, vines and florals picked out in warm metallic threads that catch the light subtly rather than loudly,” drawing attention to the fabric’s tactile richness rather than overt embellishment.

Tailoring gives the silhouette structure. Vogue India observed that “the jacket is gathered at the waist with a wide black belt, which introduces a strong horizontal break through the brocade. That cinch shapes the upper half of the look, while the wide-leg trousers extend the same weave through the length of the body, keeping the pattern continuous from top to hem.” Vogue also singled out Dia Mirza’s rani pink kurta set as an ode to handwoven textiles, reinforcing the continuity of texture across the outfit.

Styling kept craft in the foreground. The look was styled by Theia Tekchandaney, with hair by Meitei Mohandas worn loose with a side part to offset the jacket’s formality. Vogue India detailed finishing touches: “Flower-shaped stud earrings pick up on the botanical motifs already present in the fabric. Hair by Meitei Mohandas is worn loose with a side part, its natural wave offsetting the formality of the jacket. Makeup stays warm and tonal, with bronze-shadowed eyes, defined lashes and rose nude lip.”

Rewild’s mission sits behind the aesthetics. Vogue India reports that Rewild was launched in 2023 by the Anita Dongre Foundation to support elephant conservation and human-animal coexistence, positioning the collection within a charitable and ecological framework. Openthemagazine captured Dongre’s market ambitions and design aims in her own words: “I set out intentionally to be young and feminine, but I also wanted it to be easy because my vibe is always easy and simple. And yes, I definitely want to see my designs, the same designs, sell in Mumbai, Delhi, Los Angeles, New York or Dubai.”

Craft and collaboration remain central to the label’s practice. Openthemagazine noted that Rewild 2026 introduced macramé inspired by the roots of trees, citing a visit to a 140-year-old banyan tree at Lukshmi Vilas Palace, and that Dongre continues long-term collaborations with SEWA for aari embroidery. Elle India and Openthemagazine together list recurring techniques across collections - pichhwai art, gota patti, ajrakh, bandhani and kantha - underscoring the brand’s artisanal vocabulary.

Coverage framed the outfit as purposeful restraint. News18 ran the headline “Dia Mirza’s Anita Dongre Banarasi Power Set Is Quiet Luxury With A Purpose,” adding that the look “makes a case for fashion that is as thoughtful as it is visually commanding.” Worn by a high-profile environmental advocate and styled with minimal jewellery, the Rewild 2026 Benarasi set reads less like costume and more like craft-led power dressing that foregrounds conservation and handwork.
