The C-800G is not a random luxury object. Sony developed it in 1992 for recording studios, and the company says many artists still request it by name as their microphone of choice. Sony Electronics lists the C-800G Studio Tube Condenser Microphone at US$ 14,999.99 in its official U.S. store, which helps explain why the model has become shorthand for elite sound and serious spending.

João Gomes made the gift’s impact obvious in the video, reacting with, “Vocês têm noção?” He then called it “Que brinquedo! Que instrumento,” a reaction that fit the scale of the present.
