ExOne, voxeljet unite global service network to boost binder jet uptime

More than $1 million in spare parts now sits at a joint service center outside Detroit, backed by a shared bench of over 45 factory-trained technicians spread across eight countries, as ExOne GmbH and voxeljet AG combine their aftermarket operations to keep binder jet systems printing instead of waiting on parts.

The two companies announced the joint global Aftermarket Service and Support Network on November 13, 2025, positioning it as a faster-response umbrella for industrial customers running ExOne and voxeljet machines in the United States, Germany, Japan, China, India, South Korea, Singapore, and France. The immediate pitch was uptime: coordinated field service teams, expanded parts access, and on-demand technical support intended to reduce the dead time that turns a production binder jet line into an expensive monument.

“Industrial customers rely on our systems for mission-critical operations,” said Eric Bader, CEO of ExOne Global Holdings. “By uniting our aftermarket operations, we’re ensuring that every ExOne and voxeljet system, no matter where it is installed, receives the same level of proactive, professional support. This marks a major step toward a seamless, world-class customer experience.”

Beyond boots-on-the-ground coverage, the network tied its day-to-day service work to process changes that were set to start in early 2026: harmonized maintenance contracts, faster spare-parts logistics, and an integrated digital ticketing and service reporting system. “Our customers depend on fast, reliable service, and that starts with bringing aftermarket support closer to where they operate,” said Mike Dougherty, Managing Director, voxeljet America. “By expanding our local parts inventories and service capabilities, we’re reducing downtime and giving customers access to the expertise and components they need, right in their own regions.”

ExOne and voxeljet also described shared service procedures, remote diagnostic access, and common quality and cybersecurity standards, with technicians trained to OEM specifications under a unified curriculum covering the ExOne S-Max and voxeljet VX series platforms. Preventive maintenance, software updates, and remote diagnostics were framed as part of extending equipment life cycles and stabilizing day-to-day output.

The push lands after a bruising run of ownership and restructuring headlines around the broader Desktop Metal orbit. Nano Dimension said it completed its acquisition of Desktop Metal on April 2, 2025, valuing the transaction at $179.3 million, and Desktop Metal later entered Chapter 11 in July 2025. A court-approved sale finalized September 4, 2025 transferred certain U.S. entities, including ExOne Americas LLC and ExOne Operating LLC, to Arc Impact, while some international subsidiaries, including ExOne GmbH and ExOne KK, were excluded and pursued separately.

ExOne Global Holdings, the structure unifying ExOne and voxeljet, was announced October 23, 2025, with Bader named CEO and Whitney Haring-Smith named Chair of the Board; Rudolf Franz was slated to join the board after concluding his voxeljet AG CEO role at the end of 2025. For binder jet customers who lived through the last few years of corporate whiplash, the new alliance is a very specific promise: when a printer goes down, someone shows up with the right part.
