A former furniture warehouse in Fairfield is now a 24-hour pickleball stop built for players who want court time before work, after dinner or whenever weather wipes out outdoor plans. X Pickleball Club opened in October 2025 at 461 US-46 with three indoor Laykold Cushion Plus courts, app-based reservations, key-code entry and replay tools that can rewind the last 45 seconds of a point.

That setup changes the local routine in a real way. Instead of fighting for a slot at a public court or hoping a gym stays open late, players can book a court online, walk in at any hour and use a facility that runs without traditional staffed hours. Each court has scoring buttons that update the scoreboard automatically, which makes match play cleaner for doubles groups and leagues, while the replay system gives players a way to settle line calls or save a highlight without stopping the game for long.

The club is also built for more than one kind of player. Its reservation system allows up to six people to share a booking, and the pricing changes by time of day, which makes it usable for singles practice, regular doubles runs and group sessions. Apple Maps lists the facility as Fairfield’s premier indoor pickleball destination, with open play, private and group lessons, court rentals, tournaments, events and memberships. That puts it in the category of full pickleball hub, not just a place to rent a court.

The timing fits a bigger shift in the sport. SFIA and Pickleheads said in their Nov. 14, 2024 State of Pickleball report that participation kept growing and that court demand still needed more investment. USA Pickleball said its court-location database added more than 2,300 new locations in 2025, bringing the total to 18,258 nationwide, while the Pickleheads database showed 82,613 known courts and 14,155 new courts added in 2024. SFIA’s 2024 infrastructure report also said the 25-to-34 age group was the largest cohort it highlighted, a sign that the game is now drawing younger regulars who expect predictable access and better facilities.

That matters in Fairfield, where public options already exist, including courts at Fairfield Recreation on Hollywood Avenue. X Pickleball Club gives local players an indoor fallback that does not depend on daylight, gym schedules or dry pavement. If it catches on, the model is the kind other North Jersey clubs may copy: fewer open-ended drop-ins, more bookable time slots, more tech at the fence line, and a lot less waiting around for a court to open up.
