Florham Park Gets 14-Court Climate-Controlled Pickleball Facility in March 2026

Open Play Pickleball is putting the finishing touches on what it calls the largest dedicated indoor pickleball facility in the area: 14 cushioned, climate-controlled courts at 8 Fernwood Road in Florham Park, New Jersey, with a public grand opening scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The facility brands itself as "New Jersey's Premier Indoor Pickleball Experience" and is built around a rotating social play format rather than fixed teams or leagues. Open play sessions run two hours, with organized games where players mix and match partners throughout. As the company puts it: "No permanent teams, no pressure, and no need to bring a partner. Just show up, jump in, meet new people, and enjoy a fun, feel-good workout." Private court reservations are also available for groups who want dedicated time.

Programming extends well beyond open play. As reported by Frank Cahill in Morris Focus, the facility will offer "Pickleball 101" clinics, private coaching sessions, and DUPR-rated matches for competitive players rated 3.0 and above. Skill-level programming is planned for Intermediate (3.0-3.5) and Advanced (4.0+) players, and the events calendar will include tournaments, round robins, and social mixers accessible through the facility's Member Portal.

One of the more notable angles for the local pickleball community is the facility's pitch to independent instructors. Open Play is actively recruiting certified coaches who struggle to secure prime-time court space, pointing to its 14-court inventory as the solution: "We have the inventory to support independent coaches and their clients, even during prime time." A limited number of Founding Memberships are currently available, offering early access and special benefits for players who want to lock in before opening day. The facility's website notes that while Founding Memberships can be secured now, general court reservations are not yet open as construction continues.
