Free Pickleball Day in Appleton Offers Lessons, Games, and Food Trucks
Fox Cities Sports and Centerline Athletics brought free pickleball lessons, prizes, and three food trucks to Appleton's Pickleball Kingdom on March 24.

Pickleball's reputation as the fastest-growing sport in America got a live demonstration in Appleton last Saturday, when Fox Cities Sports and Centerline Athletics threw open the doors at Pickleball Kingdom for a free, no-registration-required day built entirely around getting newcomers onto the court.
The Learn and Play Pickleball Day ran six hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pickleball Kingdom on 2411 S Kensington Drive, and covered the full beginner curriculum: rules, correct paddle grip, the four fundamental shots, equipment demos, and actual court time. The explicit goal, as the organizers framed it, was to give all people, young and old, the opportunity to come out and learn the game.
Beyond the instruction, the day had the feel of a community block party. Health and wellness vendors set up alongside games and prizes, and three food trucks handled the hunger: Kicking Ash BBQ, Locally Sauced, and Bowlicious Eats, with additional vendors also on site.
What made the event worth noting beyond a typical open-play session was the structure behind it. Centerline Athletics, paired with Fox Cities Sports, brought a coaching-oriented approach to what could easily have been a casual drop-in. Beginner coaching and equipment demos alongside social play opportunities meant someone walking in with zero pickleball experience could leave having actually swung a paddle and understood why the kitchen line matters.
Pickleball Kingdom has emerged as a natural anchor for this kind of community push in the Fox Cities area, and Saturday's turnout will likely shape how Fox Cities Sports and Centerline Athletics think about the next one.
