Lubbock Pickleball Tournament Raises Funds to Fight Alzheimer's Disease
A Lubbock pickleball club committed 100% of tournament proceeds to Alzheimer's research, kicking off a monthly series with a $15,000 goal.

Pickleball has become a lot of things to a lot of people, but in Lubbock, Texas, it's now a direct line to Alzheimer's research funding.
Lubbock Indoor Pickleball (LIP) teamed up with the West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association on March 28 to host a charity tournament under the Alzheimer's Association's Do What You Love to End ALZ initiative. Every dollar collected from the event went straight toward the chapter's $15,000 fundraising goal, with organizers committing 100% of proceeds to Alzheimer's care and research support.
The March 28 event was the first in a four-event series, each scheduled for the fourth Saturday of the month. Follow-up tournaments are set for April, May, and June, giving players multiple chances to compete and contribute. The format was deliberately inclusive rather than elite-focused, reflecting the charity-driven purpose and LIP's role as a community anchor rather than a competitive proving ground.
The Do What You Love to End ALZ program is built on a straightforward premise: supporters raise money through the hobbies and activities they already practice. Pickleball fits the model well, and an indoor dedicated facility like LIP adds structural reliability to the whole thing. West Texas weather doesn't cancel a court reservation inside, which means the monthly schedule holds and organizers can build donor and volunteer momentum across all four events instead of scrambling around weather delays.
That consistency matters when you're working toward a fixed dollar target. With three Saturdays still on the calendar and the $15,000 goal in play, each remaining event carries real weight. Players interested in registering for the April, May, or June tournaments can reach Lubbock Indoor Pickleball directly at 806-589-0488.
