PPA Tour Releases Greater Zion Cup Draws Ahead of March 23 Start
Five divisions, one loaded draw: the Greater Zion Cup at Black Desert Resort tipped off March 23 with Tyra Black appearing in three separate seeded pairings.

The PPA Tour dropped the official pro draws for the Greater Zion Cup at Black Desert Resort on March 20, four days before the tournament opened at Black Desert Resort in Santa Clara, Utah. All five professional divisions — Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles — had brackets in place ahead of the March 23 start, with the week of competition scheduled to run through March 29. Live broadcast coverage began Tuesday, March 24 with the Round of 64 on Pickleballtv, with real-time updates available through the PPA Tour's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.
The mixed doubles draw carried some of the more intriguing matchup questions heading into the week. The No. 5 pairing of Columbus Sliders teammates Parris Todd and Andrei Daescu brought a track record worth watching: three events together in 2026, two bronze medals, and a fourth-place finish. The bracket, though, handed them a steep climb. If seeding held, they were projected to face Johns/Waters as early as the quarterfinals.
Further down the mixed doubles seedings, the No. 4 pairing of Christian Alshon and Rachel Rohrabacher came in with split results from their two prior events this year. At the Cape Coral Open, they took bronze but fell in a tight semifinal to Johns/Waters at 12-10, 7-11, 7-11. At the Mesa Cup, Andrei Daescu and Tyra Black ended their run in the quarterfinals, 11-8, 4-11, 4-11.
Tyra Black shows up across multiple draw lines this week. She is listed alongside Jorja Johnson at No. 2 in women's doubles — a team that beat Waters/Bright at least once in 2025 but has yet to recapture that form in 2026, most recently dropping a quarterfinal to Mari Humberg and Milan Rane at the Texas Open. Black also appears with Dylan Frazier at No. 7 in mixed doubles, a reunion from 2024 that carries different stakes now that Black has established herself as a top-5 doubles player.

One subplot with equipment watchers: Catherine Parenteau, who enters at No. 3 in women's doubles alongside Rachel Rohrabacher and at No. 6 in mixed doubles with Gabe Tardio, was spotted using a JOOLA Scorpeus Pro V at the Texas Open. Her Selkirk contract is reportedly up. She reached the semifinals in both mixed doubles and women's doubles in Texas, so the paddle swap has not slowed her down heading into Greater Zion.
The No. 3 women's doubles pairing of Parenteau and Rohrabacher arrives with momentum after a bronze at the Texas Open, their best shared result of 2026. The No. 4 team of Parris Todd and Kate Fahey, in their only event together this year, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Tina Pisnik and Lacy Schneemann and will look to extend their run this week.
Conditions at Black Desert Resort were forecast to be warm with no wind, a setup that tends to flatten out the margin for error and put a premium on clean, aggressive play from the baseline. The full broadcast schedule is available on Pickleball TV.
