A Mother’s Day craft class in Guelph turned the fizz of bath bombs into a family ritual, with moms and kids splitting up the making and walking out with a haul built for gifting, soaking and sharing. The Mom & Me Bath Bomb & Shower Steamer Workshop took place Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 15 Surrey Street West, ran for 1 hour 30 minutes and started at CAD 90.

The format was built around making together without needing any experience. Kids were set to make their own batch of 20-plus mini bath bombs, while moms could choose between making more mini bath bombs or shower steamers. The workshop walked participants through the ingredients, techniques and simple recipes behind fizzy bath products, then let them customize batches with colour, fragrance and fun additives. The pitch was simple: bring an interest in all things bubbly and leave with something personal.

The take-home value was part of the draw. Each duo was set to leave with more than 40 mini creations, along with a handout packed with recipes, tips and instructions for recreating the process at home. All supplies were included, and guests also received safety glasses, gloves and aprons, plus a complimentary 25 percent off coupon toward a candle of their choice. In a hobby category that often lives on social media and in kitchen experiments, that bundle made the class feel closer to a family activity and a ready-made gift workshop at the same time.

Strawberry Sunshine Candles & Beyond organized the session from its Guelph home base at 3-15 Surrey St W in the King Cleaners Plaza beside McDonald’s. The business says it specializes in candle making workshops, handmade all-natural soy candles, fundraising and custom orders, and its workshop page says the point is to try a new craft, connect with the community and spark creativity. Local business listings identify Stephanie Scapinello as the owner and say she founded the business in 2021. A separate bath bomb workshop listing at the same address on February 6, 2026 pointed to a recurring craft space, not a one-off event.

Bath bombs themselves have a long run behind the current gifting boom. Lush says Mo Constantine invented the first bath bomb in 1989 and originally called them Aqua Sizzlers. The fizz comes from sodium bicarbonate reacting with citric acid to release carbon dioxide, and Health Canada says cosmetics are regulated under the Food and Drugs Act and related cosmetic rules, with ingredients that present health risks able to be prohibited or limited. With recent market reports describing bath bombs as a multi-billion-dollar global category, the Guelph workshop landed right where community, self-care and small-business retail now overlap.
