Treyarch softened the Black Ops 7 Zombies camo grind in Season 3, but it did not make the finish line shorter. The mode still runs on the same three-step ladder of Military, Special, and Mastery Camos, yet every weapon now has three Special Camo challenges instead of two, matching the structure Warzone already uses.

That change cuts down on confusion more than it cuts down on work. In Black Ops 6, the path to mastery could feel murky once the easy kill-count objectives were done. Black Ops 7 Zombies made the loop more explicit: clear the Military Camos first, move into a clearer set of Special tasks, then start working toward the top-tier rewards. For players grinding long sessions, that is a real quality-of-life shift because every milestone is easier to see and track. For completionists, it means more boxes to tick before the final camo drops.

The Military Camo stage stayed the most straightforward part of the climb. Most weapons asked for critical kills, while some weapon types used point-blank kills or raw eliminations instead. Once that base layer was finished, the Special Camos introduced more specific pressure points. Those challenges included kills without reloading, critical-kill bursts in a single match, and other weapon-specific conditions that forced players to use each gun with a little more discipline.

The real long tail still sat at the top. Black Ops 7 Zombies used Golden Dragon, Bloodstone, Doomsteel, and Infestation as its Mastery Camos, and each one depended on finishing the earlier camo steps plus extra performance gates such as special enemy eliminations, elite kills, or cross-weapon unlock requirements. That kept the mode from becoming a pure checklist and gave the grind a proper endgame.

The result was a better organized chase, not a smaller one. Casual players got a clearer route through the maze, while the hardest grinders received three more Special hurdles per weapon and a longer road to the rewards that matter most. Black Ops 7 Zombies did not flatten the camo grind. It just made the climb easier to understand before it made it deeper.
