LA Thieves beat OpTic Texas in seven maps to win Major 3
LA Thieves ripped Major 3 out of OpTic Texas’ hands with a 4-3 win and Scrap’s 1.80 Game 7, a result that jolts the CDL race.

LA Thieves did more than steal Major 3 from OpTic Texas. They rewrote the top of the Call of Duty League race with a lower-bracket run that ended in a 4-3 grand final win at DreamHack Atlanta, a finish that instantly changes the pressure around the Black Ops 7 era.
The final had the feel of a swing series from the opening hill. OpTic Texas struck first with a 250-219 Hardpoint win on Colossus, but Los Angeles Thieves answered with a 6-3 Search and Destroy on Raid and an 8-3 Overload win on Den to grab control. OpTic fought back with a 250-242 Hardpoint on Den and a 6-4 Search and Destroy on Scar, forcing the series into a true Game 7 after both sides had traded momentum map by map.

That last stretch is where the Thieves looked better prepared. Nium’s late Hellstorm pick helped turn the sixth map on Scar, and LA carried that edge into the deciding Search and Destroy on Den. Scrap closed it with a 1v2 clutch and finished Game 7 with a 1.80 K/D, the kind of standout map that makes a championship run feel inevitable instead of lucky. When the bracket page flipped to OpTic Texas 3, Los Angeles Thieves 4, the final looked less like a narrow win and more like the moment the season’s hierarchy shifted.
The path to that point mattered as much as the trophy itself. LA Thieves had dropped their first playoff match, then ripped through G2 Minnesota, Riyadh Falcons, FaZe Vegas, and Toronto KOI to reach the final. OpTic Texas came through Miami Heretics, Riyadh Falcons, and Toronto KOI, but could not finish the job against a Thieves roster built around Scrap, aBeZy, HyDra, and Nium. The bracket portion of Major III ran May 15-17 in Atlanta, Georgia, and the grand final was played Sunday, May 17 at 12:30 PM.
The result gave Los Angeles Thieves their first Major trophy of the season, along with $150,000 and 100 CDL points, and pushed them into the thick of the championship conversation. The official standings page now shows LA Thieves in fourth on 345 points, with FaZe Vegas, OpTic Texas, and Paris Gentle Mates ahead of them. Championship Weekend 2026 is set for July 16-19 at Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and after this seven-map grind, every contender knows LA Thieves arrive there looking like a real title threat.
