Treyarch adds Thermal Spike, Warden 308 pistol kit in Season 03 Reloaded
Thermal Spike turned Season 03 Reloaded into more than a content drop. The new Warden 308 Badlands kit and Heat Wave Havoc pushed players to rethink tonight’s loadouts.

The first thing worth trying tonight is Thermal Spike, because it is the kind of reward that can change a fight before the fight even starts. Treyarch’s new Endgame Major Ability unleashes a blast of flame that incinerates enemies, then leaves fire hanging in the area for a short time. In a mode where squads already trade space, bosses, and repeatable challenges in Avalon, that is not just another toy. It is area denial, panic, and free damage rolled into one ability.
The other new weapon reward is more specialized, but it is the one that will get pistol fans talking. The Warden 308 Badlands Pistol Kit turns the Warden 308 marksman rifle into a heavy pistol configuration through a Weekly Challenge reward. It gives up some control and range, but gains better handling and mobility, along with strong close-range firepower. That makes it the sharper dueling option, especially for players who want a sidearm that behaves more like a compact aggressive primary. If Thermal Spike is the bigger meta disruptor, Badlands is the more obvious loadout experiment.
Season 03 Reloaded went live on April 29, 2026, and Treyarch did not treat it like a simple content refresh. Heat Wave Havoc arrived in multiplayer as a moshpit of Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint, with players raising Heat Level through non-lethal cooperative actions. That design pushes teams to play cleaner and more selfless, which is a big shift from the usual “top frag or die trying” pace that rules most public matches. The update also brought the Free Run race, the Totenreich Round-Based Zombies map, and a new Endgame operation, reinforcing how much Reloaded now carries the mid-season load.
Endgame itself has already become one of the more interesting experiments in Black Ops 7 because it was introduced as a limited-time free-to-play co-op PvE mode accessible from the main Call of Duty menu and within Warzone and Black Ops 7. Squads move through escalating combat zones, bosses, and repeatable challenges while evolving their Operators, and Thermal Spike looks built for that sandbox from the ground up. The C.O.D.E. Navigator event adds another layer, tying the update to Military Appreciation Month in May 2026. The Call of Duty Endowment says it has placed 169,000 veterans into high-quality jobs and counting, and the Navigator bundle was created with Capt. Chris Cassidy, the retired NASA astronaut and former U.S. Navy SEAL, with 100% of Activision’s net proceeds going to the Endowment.
