Black Ops Royale's Solos playlist went live in Warzone today at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET), arriving just one week after the mode launched exclusively with Quads matchmaking. The playlist is available in both public queues and private matches.

Raven Software came with a caveat alongside the announcement. "As a reminder, this mode was originally designed and balanced to launch as a Quads experience," the developer posted on X. "While we recognize the strong interest in a Solos option, please be aware that gameplay is not yet fully tuned for a single player experience." Raven's reasoning for the Quads-first launch was straightforward: Quads is the most popular playlist across Warzone, so that's where the mode's balance work was concentrated.

The timing matters for anyone who's been frustrated since Black Ops Royale debuted. The mode strips out virtually everything modern Warzone is built around: no loadouts, no Gulag, no Buy Stations, no in-game cash. It's pure scavenger-style play, heavily inspired by Blackout from Black Ops 4, which last appeared in 2018. That design ethos works reasonably well in Quads, where four players can cover ground and pool loot. Running it Solo, on a map sized for 100 players, is where the cracks start to show, and the community flagged that immediately at launch.

The two loudest complaints since Black Ops Royale arrived in Season 2 Reloaded have been the map's scale relative to the 100-player count and the difficulty finding weapons at the start of a match. Both of those problems get amplified when you're alone, which is exactly why Raven's warning carries some weight. The developer has said it plans to continue tweaking the mode based on player feedback, but hasn't specified what changes are coming or on what timeline.

Still, the community response to the announcement skewed positive, with most players expressing relief that Raven moved quickly rather than sitting on the feature while collecting data. The update also brings Week 7 challenges to the game, featuring the HAMR and Inf weapons.

Whether Solos in Black Ops Royale actually plays well right now is a legitimate question. Raven is being upfront that it doesn't fully know yet either, which is at least an honest position. The feedback loop starts today.
