Calcutta Marine International acquires Andros Boatworks, expands catamaran reach
Calcutta Marine International bought Andros Boatworks and kept the Andros name alive, a move that could reshape support, production, and crossover design in Sarasota’s catamaran scene.

Calcutta Marine International has added Andros Boatworks to its portfolio without erasing the brand that helped make the deal attractive in the first place. The Sarasota-based builder, known for custom offshore fishing catamarans, acquired Andros Boatworks on April 9, 2026, with financial terms undisclosed and a clear promise that Andros will continue as its own line under Calcutta ownership.
For catamaran buyers, that is the real story: this looks less like a simple buyout and more like a scale play with a design portfolio angle. Calcutta, founded in 1996 and based on Northgate Boulevard in Sarasota, already has a reputation in premium offshore and inshore boats. Andros, founded in 2005 by Andy, Don and Danny Eggebrecht, built its name over roughly 21 years around hands-on craftsmanship and a loyal customer base. Keeping both identities alive suggests Calcutta sees value in preserving brand equity while widening the reach of its offshore multihull business.
The structure of the deal matters for the next round of buyers, too. Andros is set to keep its team intact, and the transaction was designed to preserve continuity while supporting future growth. That should matter in a market where delivery timing, after-sale support and builder responsiveness can be just as important as hull design. If Calcutta uses its larger platform to shore up parts support, scheduling and dealer backing, owners on both sides of the brand line could feel the benefits quickly.

There is also a broader regional signal here. Mergr lists the acquisition as Calcutta’s first recorded transaction in the marine sector, in the United States and in Florida, which makes this a meaningful expansion move rather than a routine tuck-in. Viking Mergers & Acquisitions helped facilitate the deal, underscoring how local builders are consolidating to stay competitive while still protecting the specialist identities that attract serious offshore buyers.
In practical terms, the likely downstream effect is a stronger and better-supported catamaran lineup with more room for crossover influence between Calcutta’s offshore fishing focus and Andros’ established custom-boat approach. For Sarasota’s builder landscape, the message is straightforward: the next phase of growth may come from combining scale with distinct brands, not flattening them into one.
