Lagoon 38 wins 2026 Multihull of the Year in Sail Under 45 feet
Lagoon 38’s win points to more than brand momentum, with its layout, size and cruising practicality beating a crowded sub-45-foot field.

The Lagoon 38 has turned a strong launch into a major title, winning Multihull of the Year 2026 in the Sail Under 45 feet category. In a field of 36 nominees, the result gave Lagoon another high-profile marker in the compact cruising cat segment and suggested the boat’s appeal runs beyond brand familiarity alone.
That matters because the under-45-foot class is where buyers still want real cruising comfort without stepping up to a larger, more expensive platform. Lagoon’s answer on the 38 is built around scale and liveability in a package with an 11.38-meter hull length, 13.12-meter overall length, a 6.65-meter beam and a light displacement of 10.2 tonnes. The company lists 77.7 square meters of upwind sail area, standard twin 29 hp engines, a 300-liter water tank and a 400-liter fuel tank. It is offered in 3-cabin, 2-head and 4-cabin, 2-head layouts, and Lagoon says the dining and living setup can accommodate up to ten people.

The design details help explain why the boat drew attention. Lagoon highlights a fully retractable sliding glass door that opens the saloon to the cockpit, extended aft platforms and a forward owner’s cabin, all features aimed at making the 38 feel more spacious and more usable at anchor. That combination fits the brand’s long-running formula, but it also shows why this model has landed so well in a category where buyers compare every foot of beam, every berth and every storage compromise.
The award itself carries weight because Multicoques Mag and Multihulls World launched Multihull of the Year in 2018, and the competition has become a meaningful read on what multihull buyers are gravitating toward. Lagoon said the 38 had already picked up recognition in other award conversations, including nomination for the European Yacht of the Year 2026 in the Multihull category and recognition in the Newport International Boat Show 2025 New Products process. YACHT has also noted that Lagoon built and sold more than 900 Lagoon 380 catamarans over more than 20 years, which helps frame the 38 as a successor in a proven compact-cruiser line rather than an isolated new model.

Lagoon, which says it has built more than 7,000 catamarans since 1984, now has a fresh sales story to tell as the 38 heads to Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, Lagoon Med 2026 in Porquerolles, Lagoon Days Mandelieu-la-Napoule and Cannes Yachting Festival 2026. Sanctuary Cove will mark the boat’s first on-water appearance in Australia, giving the new title immediate visibility as the 38 moves deeper into the market.
