Lagoon's Bordeaux shipyard first showed the EIGHTY 3 to the world at its annual Lagoon Exclusive Days event before bringing the yacht to its official public debut at the Miami Boat Show in March 2026. The new model steps in as the direct successor to the Seventy 8 and assumes the flagship position in Lagoon's power catamaran lineup, sitting alongside the Eighty 2 sailing yacht as its motoryacht counterpart.

The design pedigree is serious. VPLP Design handled the naval architecture, Patrick le Quément shaped the exterior, and Nauta Design took responsibility for the interior. That trio has produced a hull measuring 23.91 meters (78'5") with an 11-meter beam and a draft of just 1.27 meters, carrying 68.5 tonnes of displacement. Lagoon's own marketing rounds the length upward, with various dealer and press materials describing it as an 80- to 83-foot vessel depending on context.

Where the EIGHTY 3 makes its clearest argument against superyacht alternatives is in sheer usable space. Over 300 square meters of exterior living area is distributed across multiple decks, including a 50-square-meter flybridge configured as a panoramic social hub with a central helm station, sunbathing areas, a dining table, and a fully equipped outdoor galley. At the stern, a 22-square-meter hydraulic swim platform functions as what Lagoon describes as a beach club: stable at water level, capable of deploying a large tender or a jet ski, and spacious enough for sunbathing independent of either.

Below and above decks, the Nauta Design interior runs in a villa-style direction with clean lines, fine materials, and transitions between indoor and outdoor space that avoid the usual nautical compartmentalization. Cabins range from four to six depending on configuration, with berths for eight to sixteen guests. Lagoon builds in two cabin layout variants and gives buyers the choice of placing the galley above or below deck. The customization menu extends further to include games rooms, additional crew quarters, and expanded living or work areas.

Power comes from twin John Deere N13 engines, each producing 580 horsepower. Fed by 8,500 liters (2,245 US gallons) of fuel and supplemented by solar-powered capability for extended off-grid use, the EIGHTY 3 carries a rated range of 3,500 nautical miles. That figure positions the yacht credibly for ocean crossings rather than purely coastal work. Water tankage sits at 420 US gallons, and the vessel holds CE certifications across categories A14, B18, C24, and D40.

Gianguido Girotti, general manager and deputy CEO of the Bénéteau Group, which owns Lagoon, was identified as a central figure in the program's development alongside the yard's design and production teams. Multihulls World, reporting in its March-April 2026 issue, placed the approximate starting price at €8,500,000 excluding tax.
