The Leopard 52 has done what few cruising cats manage: it won in two different awards programs in the same week, across two regions, and under two very different judging panels. First it took the Sail 45 to 55 category at the Multihull of the Year awards in La Grande Motte, France, then it repeated the feat in Singapore by winning Sailing Catamaran 14 to 18 metres at the Yacht Style Awards on April 22, 2026, the eve of the Singapore Yachting Festival.

That double result matters because the two awards are not simply duplicating one another. Yacht Style’s yacht categories weigh innovation, design, build quality, environmental responsibility, owner experience, personal achievements and market relevance, with added emphasis on Asia representation. In other words, the Leopard 52 had to appeal not just as a good-looking catamaran, but as a model with real-world use across cruising cultures. Winning in La Grande Motte and at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove suggests the boat has found a broad sweet spot, one that resonates from Europe to Asia.

The design itself helps explain why. The Leopard 52 is a Simonis Voogd Design and an evolution of the Leopard 50, built by Robertson and Caine in Cape Town, South Africa. Leopard says the model carries forward the brand’s offshore DNA while adding modern styling and a more versatile package for owners. Robertson and Caine says changes to the mast and boom, including a taller mast and lengthened, lowered boom, delivered a 17% increase in optimal upwind sailing. For a buyer balancing passage-making against comfort, that is the kind of upgrade that lands immediately.

The layout is just as central to its appeal. Robertson and Caine offers the Leopard 52 in 3-cabin, 4-cabin, 5-cabin and 6-cabin arrangements, plus an optional crew cabin in the forepeak. Leopard also points to 438 square feet of integrated indoor-outdoor living space, a spacious helm station and an elevated lounge. That mix gives the boat a clear target: private owners, liveaboards, charter guests and families who want one platform to handle all of those roles without feeling compromised.

Franck Bauguil, Leopard’s senior vice president of yacht ownership and product development, described the Leopard 52 as the company’s most versatile catamaran in its class. With more than 3,000 Leopard catamarans delivered worldwide and a Leopard 48 already on Robertson and Caine’s achievements page as Cruising World’s 2013 Best Full Size Multihull Boat of the Year, the latest double win reads as more than a trophy run. It points to a brand that still knows exactly where the premium cruising-cat market is headed.
