2026 Marvellous Market Bag Crochet Along launches with four free patterns

Each pattern will be free on the blog and paired with a video tutorial on the designer’s YouTube channel. The timing fits the season. The designer has long tied the series to the push for reusable bags, noting that many grocery stores and markets encourage shoppers to bring their own. In the original launch, the designer said a local grocery store was going plastic-bag-less come May, a detail that gives the project a clear everyday use. Market bags have also been positioned as quick makes and strong scrap-yarn projects, especially when worked in mesh or open-work stitches that use less yarn and feel right for warmer weather.

The series has built real continuity around that practical brief. The 2024 edition was marked as the fifth annual Marvellous Market Bag Crochet Along, and it emphasized lighter, open-work designs. The 2025 version became the sixth annual outing, including the Bingley Market Bag, which was designed while traveling in Europe, started in Belgium and finished in Paris. That kind of personal detail has helped the series feel less like a pattern release and more like a recurring seasonal event with a clear payoff: a finished bag ready for summer errands and farmers market runs.
