Dungeons and Dragons Crochet Book Launch Brings Social Hours to 48 Stores
Forty-eight stores across the US are hosting D&D Crochet Social Hours tied to Stacy King's officially licensed pattern book from Ten Speed Press.

Forty-eight brick-and-mortar tabletop stores across the United States, joined by locations in Canada, are hosting Dungeons & Dragons Crochet Social Hour events to celebrate the release of Dungeons & Dragons Crochet: A Book of Many Patterns, an officially licensed title from Penguin Random House's Ten Speed Press imprint written by Stacy King. The coordinated program, announced by Gnome Games, runs on behalf of Wizards of the Coast, Penguin Random House, and Ten Speed Press, with the majority of US events scheduled for March 31.
The gatherings are designed as casual drop-in sessions where attendees can bring their own projects, try patterns directly from the book, and connect with other crafters who also happen to roll dice. Penguin Random House's event page notes that attendees who have their creations photographed at these events are eligible to be featured on official D&D social channels and newsletters. Sponsor raffles are included at participating stores, with at least one store announcing raffle draws around the 7 pm mark during its 6:00 to 8:30 pm event window.
Gootzy Gaming in Altoona, Pennsylvania, posting to Reddit to announce its March 31 event, described the tone plainly: "This is a very casual event; work on the School of Magic Granny Square, another pattern from the book, or anything else you would like! Some experience of crocheting is recommended, but beginners are welcome. We have an experienced crochet enthusiast on staff." The store, located at 300 4th Ave. in Altoona's historic Phoenix hotel building, noted it is one of only two Pennsylvania stores selected for the program. Gootzy Gaming can be reached at 814-515-8436 or GootzyGaming.com.
Tickets are required at most venues listed on the publisher's event page, and at least one participating store confirmed that event admission, along with a signed book plate, is included with the purchase or pre-order of the book. Pre-orders placed through Gootzy Gaming also qualify for a publisher-run sweepstakes. Guest policy at Gootzy allows plus-ones to attend as long as one person in the party holds a ticket, though only ticketed attendees are eligible for raffles and other benefits, and guest access may be restricted if ticketed attendance is high.

Among the stores with confirmed March 31 events are The Wizard's Chest in Denver, Brooklyn Game Knight and Millennium Games in New York, Enchanted Grounds in Highlands Ranch, Paradox Comics-n-Cards in Fargo, Spandex City Comics in Charlotte, and multiple Game On Arizona locations in Cottonwood and Prescott. Canadian events extend the run into early April, with Countless Comics & Games in Rothesay, New Brunswick on April 3, and The Bard and Bear Games Cafe in Hamilton, Ontario on April 13. Arrow Wood Games in Squamish, British Columbia is hosting its March 31 event in partnership with Sweet Threads.
For crafters curious which Hogwarts-adjacent path their granny squares should take, Gootzy Gaming's event post also points to a publisher quiz that determines your school of magic before you pick up your hook.
