Moogly Launches March 2026 Month-Long Shawl Crochet-Along With Weekly Pattern Drops
Tamara Kelly's Moogly shawl CAL is already underway, with no signup required and an asymmetrical, seam-free design releasing in four weekly chunks through March 30.

Tamara Kelly, the designer and educator behind Moogly, kicked off a month-long Shawl Crochet-Along on March 9 with a format as low-friction as the project itself: no registration, no deadlines, just four consecutive Mondays of pattern drops and a video tutorial the morning after each one.
"We're kicking off a new month-long crochet along here on Moogly starting March 9th! We'll be making an asymmetrical shawl, in one piece, with no seaming," Kelly wrote on the Moogly blog, which serves as the CAL's home base alongside a YouTube creator update where the announcement also appeared.
The first pattern section landed March 9, with its accompanying tutorial going live March 10. That Monday-Tuesday rhythm continues through the rest of the month: pattern drops on March 16, 23, and 30, with tutorials following on March 17, 24, and 31. Live sessions stream on both Facebook and YouTube at 11 a.m. Central Time.

The shawl calls for a US-H (5.0 mm) hook and 620 yards of fingering or sport weight yarn. For her sample, Kelly reached for a Furls hook and two balls of Concept by Katia 4-ply Symetric Socks + More Illusion, adding stitch markers to the supply list. The yarn weight question comes with a small asterisk: Katia classifies it as sport weight, while Ravelry lists it as fingering. Kelly addressed both directly. "The great thing about this shawl is that either weight of yarn should work, so find your favorite in either 1 or 2 weight. Self-striping is particularly fun!" The blog also lists Brava Worsted, Swish Worsted, Jimmy Beans Wool Beanstalk, Berroco Vintage, and MadTosh Vintage as CAL yarn suggestions for makers looking for alternatives.
Joining is straightforward: follow the Moogly blog, the Moogly Facebook Page, the Moogly YouTube channel, or subscribe to the free weekly email newsletter. The Moogly Community Group on Facebook is another gathering point for CAL participants. Block 4 of the MooglyCAL2026 is credited to Oombawka Design, signaling the collaborative spirit the CAL carries as it moves through its final two weeks.
