Rachele Carmona Previews Free Courtyard Blanket Pattern, Release March 3
Rachele Carmona previewed The Courtyard Blanket and told readers, "Look out for this free pattern on March 3rd!" She showed two 2024 VVCAL demo blankets using Catona packs and hexagon motifs.

Rachele Carmona, designer behind cypress|textiles and author of Crochet Modular Blankets, teased a free crochet blanket pattern titled The Courtyard Blanket and urged makers to "Look out for this free pattern on March 3rd!" Carmona promoted the pattern on her blog and on Instagram, where she also wrote, "Free pattern coming this week."
On her blog Carmona framed the announcement within a larger WIP effort, writing, "Hello, lovely! Today, as promised in my last post, I am showing off the first of 19 WIP finishes. I truly hope to finish these WIPs this year, but time will tell." She positioned the Courtyard Blanket preview as part of a WIP pile reveal and said she would add finished object photographs and links as she completes projects.
Carmona supplied specifics about two demo blankets she posted alongside the preview. One entry is labeled "my 2024 VVCAL demo blanket using the Catona color pack and the Stone Washed and River Washed color pack," which she described as "a throw-size blanket" and noted, "I didn’t use all of the motifs." She acknowledged bumps in the process, promising, "There were some challenges along the way, which I’ll be sure to mention in case it helps someone out."
A second demo entry, also labeled 2024 VVCAL, uses "the Catona 50g balls in a Springy color palette" and is described as "a baby blanket, like 30x30in." Carmona explained her selection process for these demos: "I decided to just pick something I knew I would really enjoy. Of course this means it was 1) a rainbow! and 2) hexagon motifs!" She clarified that she "didn’t use all of the motifs" for the samples.

Carmona framed the Courtyard Blanket itself as a pattern "built from multiple patter[ns]," and she encouraged readers to prepare supplies, writing, "Grab your yarn so you can be ready. Details below!" She also reiterated accountability and process, telling followers, "I am so determined to finish these blankets and telling you about it is keeping me accountable," and noting, "There isn’t really any order that I am finishing these in either, so expect them to be fairly random!"
Carmona said the WIP pile reveal post will be updated with FO pictures and links to each WIP->FO post as she completes them. Makers looking for the Courtyard Blanket preview and accompanying photos should check Carmona’s CypressTextiles blog entries and her Instagram announcement for the promised follow-up materials and pattern release information.
