2026 CrossFit Open Goes Live Feb. 19; One-Week Adaptive Registration, Season Reminders
CrossFit’s Feb. 19 press release from San Jose tells adaptive athletes to register in the one-week window before the Open begins Feb. 26; WheelWOD will handle classification and adaptations.

A CrossFit press release datelined SAN JOSE on Feb. 19 urged adaptive athletes to act quickly, noting “In one week, on February 26, 2026, the CrossFit Open will officially begin, launching the global season that culminates in the 2026 Games in San Jose, California.” The release’s headline and copy press a one-week call-to-action tied to the Feb. 26 Open kickoff and repeats the line “But time is running out.”
The 2026 CrossFit Open runs Feb. 26–Mar. 16 and consists of three workouts completed over three weeks. One workout will be announced live each Thursday at 12 p.m. PT, and athletes have until Monday at 5 p.m. PT to submit each week’s score. Games Crossfit schedules list Open Workout 26.1 as Feb. 26–Mar. 2, 26.2 as Mar. 5–9, and 26.3 as Mar. 12–16, and note that Open Registration opened Jan. 14, 2026.
Adaptive participation is a focal point this season: the Adaptive Open is “powered by WheelWOD,” and WheelWOD will manage division classifications, approved movement adaptations, and competition standards for adaptive athletes. CrossFit’s materials stress inclusion for the 20th anniversary, stating “For adaptive athletes, this year represents more than just another competition, it represents alignment, visibility, and growth,” and that “For the 20th anniversary, all divisions, including Adaptive, will compete within the same competitive week structure, reinforcing a powerful message: adaptive athletes are not separate from the sport of CrossFit, they are part of it.” The release clarifies classification policy: “Classification is required only for athletes pursuing official rankings. Athletes participating for experience and community can register without full classification.”
The season roadmap beyond the Open is laid out in the 2026 rulebook and schedule. Individual Quarterfinals are set for Mar. 26–30, Age-Group Quarterfinals Mar. 26–30, Semifinals run April–June with Adaptive Semifinals slated for May 14–17, and Individual Online Semifinals scheduled for Jun. 11–15. The CrossFit Games, along with the Adaptive CrossFit Games by WheelWOD and Teenage CrossFit Games, are scheduled for Jul. 24–26 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, with Masters CrossFit Games by Legends on Jul. 21–23 and a Community Cup running Aug. 1–31. The Games Crossfit age-group advancement table specifies exact advancement numbers, for example Age 14–15 advances 20 boys and 20 girls, Age 16–17 advances 20 boys and 20 girls, and Age 35–39 advances 30 men and 30 women.

Athlete tools and expectations are spelled out in the release and accompanying GOWOD copy: competitors should follow published movement standards, submit scores before weekly deadlines, and “Use the GOWOD app to access free mobility protocols designed specifically for CrossFit Open workouts.” Leaderboards will rank scores on global, regional, affiliate, and division levels, with adaptive athletes ranked only within their adaptive divisions.
The Feb. 19 release was distributed via EINPresswire and republished on regional aggregation pages, including Tmnews and Vvdailypress, as a syndicated reminder of the season launch. With workouts due to begin the week of Feb. 26, the Open now sets the field for Quarterfinals Mar. 26–30 and the season’s finish at the CrossFit Games in San Jose on Jul. 24–26.
