Brandi Tarr earns Legends Championship berth, eyeing CrossFit Games path
Brandi Tarr’s trip to Del Mar puts a Lubbock athlete inside one of CrossFit’s hardest gates, where only two women in her age group advance to San Jose.

A Lubbock athlete has earned a place inside one of CrossFit’s tightest gates to the Games. Brandi Tarr of Flatland CrossFit is headed to the Legends Championship in Del Mar, California, a semifinal stop where the field is small, the standards are strict, and the payoff is direct access to the 2026 CrossFit Games path.
That matters because Legends is not a side event. CrossFit lists it as an in-person Semifinals competition from April 24-26 at Del Mar Arena, and the 2026 Semifinals are the final qualifying stage for the CrossFit Games and Divisional Games. Only the top 2,000 men and women from Quarterfinals were eligible to reach individual Semifinals, while masters athletes had to finish inside the top 400 in the 35-54 divisions or the top 300 in the 55+ divisions just to get through the door.

Tarr is entered in the women’s 45-49 age group, and that is where the pressure sharpens. Legends Championship awards only two Games-qualifying spots for women in the 45-49 division, so Tarr has to finish first or second to keep moving toward San Jose. The 50-54 division also sends only two women, while the 35-39 and 40-44 divisions get three women apiece and the 55+ divisions send just one man and one woman each, a reminder of how narrow the runway becomes once the Semifinals begin.
Her profile shows a steady climb through that system. Tarr placed 56th in the 2025 women’s 45-49 Age Group Semifinal and 87th in the same division in 2024. In the 2026 Open, she ranked 260th worldwide in women’s 45-49 and finished first on her affiliate leaderboard in that age group. For a local athlete from Flatland CrossFit, that is a clean path from Open to Quarterfinals to a semifinal stage that can change the season in one weekend.

The larger backdrop is just as sharp. The 2026 season marks the 20th CrossFit Games season, the Open ran from Feb. 26 to March 16, and the Games are scheduled for July 24-26 at SAP Center in San Jose, California, with 30 men, 30 women and 20 teams at the final. Tarr is now one of the athletes standing at the edge of that funnel, where the leaderboard is the only thing that matters.
