Tiffany Ann led Dog Yoga at The Barnacle on Sunday, May 3, from noon to 1 p.m., turning The Barnacle Historic State Park in Coconut Grove into a short, practical stop on a Woofstock day out. The class was listed as free, with park admission set at $7 at the door, and participants were told to bring their own mats and water.

This was not puppy yoga built around adoptable animals. It was a true owner-and-dog practice, with guests bringing their own dogs and keeping them leashed throughout a guided outdoor session built around gentle movement, breathing and mindfulness. The event was open to all experience levels, which made it accessible for beginners without stripping away the dog-yoga basics that regulars look for: calm pacing, close handling and a shared space that asks people and pups to settle in together.

The class also worked because it sat inside Woofstock rather than standing alone as a novelty. Woofstock ran from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the same day and was listed as an annual dog-friendly festival that supports Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and the park. Event listings said it was presented by Equipaws Pet Services and The Barnacle Society, and the day included local pet vendors, food and drinks, a Happy with Dogs canine lure course, a fun zone, kiddie pools, fur-friendly vendors and treats. One listing also noted that participating pets required advance waivers.

That festival setting changed the rhythm of the yoga. Instead of a one-off wellness class, it became part of a larger dog-owner itinerary, the kind that can stretch from a mat session into vendor browsing, treats and a full afternoon at the park. For attendees deciding whether to make the trip, that mattered: the yoga was not the whole event, but it was one of the day’s clearest anchors for people who wanted a slower, more meditative counterpoint to the more active Woofstock attractions.

The setting gave the class its biggest appeal. The Barnacle Historic State Park is the oldest house in Miami-Dade County still standing in its original location. Built in 1891 as the home of Coconut Grove pioneer Ralph Middleton Munroe, it became a state park in 1973 and sits on the shore of Biscayne Bay. Florida State Parks says the grounds are open Thursday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with house tours at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. In Coconut Grove, Miami’s oldest neighborhood, that historic waterfront backdrop made Dog Yoga feel less like a gimmick and more like a scenic, dog-friendly way to spend a festival morning.
