Beyond20, the browser extension that integrates the D&D Beyond character sheet into Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Discord, shipped version 2.18.0 on March 24 with a pair of fixes that Roll20 players running 2024 ruleset campaigns have been waiting on: HP sync now works with the 2024 Roll20 character sheet templates, and two 2024 rules features, the Healer feat and the bugbear's Surprise Attack racial feature, are fully supported on D&D Beyond.

The HP sync addition is the headline item. Beyond20 adds a roll button to D&D Beyond's character sheet sidebars covering abilities, skill checks, saving throws, weapon attacks, spells, class features, and more, but keeping token HP on the Roll20 side locked in step with changes made on D&D Beyond has been a persistent friction point for groups running hybrid setups. The v2.18.0 update extends that sync to cover the newer 2024-format character sheet templates in Roll20, closing a gap that opened when Roll20 rolled out updated sheets for the 2024 rules.

On the D&D Beyond side, the release adds mechanical recognition for two features that were previously untracked. The 2024 Healer feat's Battle Medic benefit lets a player expend a use of a Healer's Kit as a Utilize action, prompt a nearby creature to expend one of its Hit Point Dice, and then roll that die, restoring Hit Points equal to the roll plus the user's Proficiency Bonus. The bugbear's Surprise Attack, meanwhile, deals an extra 2d6 damage if the bugbear hits a creature that hasn't taken a turn yet in the current combat. Both features are now correctly parsed and rolled through the extension.

The bugfix section is equally substantial. According to the release notes, "On the bugfix side, we've resolved issues related to the new Digital Dice support, improved action matching for action customisation entries, and fixed Extras HP sync for familiars, summons, and similar creatures." The team also rearchitected how the extension hooks into D&D Beyond's Digital Dice feature to better support it going forward, and added support for custom rolls in situations where Digital Dice is disabled entirely.

The release was led by @dmportella/Gothyl, who, as the notes put it, "handled this release in its entirety." Three contributors made their first commits to the project: @kristiandueholm, @TyReg88, and @nox404. The release notes flag the milestone directly: "making this release the one with the most contributions from the community so far." The project, maintained by kakaroto and hosted on GitHub Pages, is supported through Patreon and Ko-fi.

Beyond20 is open source, released under a GPL v3 license, and uses the GitHub issue tracker for bug reports and feature requests. Users who find issues not already logged are encouraged to open a ticket or reach out on the project's Discord server.
