Tactical Adventures' Solasta II arrived on Steam Early Access on March 12, 2026, carrying something few digital RPGs have attempted: a full implementation of the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons rules, codified as SRD 5.2. The French studio, publishing through Kepler Interactive, priced the Early Access build at $39.99 with a 14-day launch discount and positioned the release as the opening move in a roughly one-year climb toward a full 1.0 release not expected before early 2027.

The Early Access build covers Act 1, which Tactical Adventures estimates at approximately 10 to 15 hours. Six classes and 13 subclasses are playable from day one, with multiclassing available at the start. Confirmed classes include the Fighter, with subclasses Aether Warden and Commander, and the Wizard, with subclasses School of Ruin and Court Mage. The Aether Warden represents the studio's take on a half-caster Fighter, and the class receives new abilities drawn from D&D 2024's Weapon Masteries to expand its versatility beyond the "party muscle" role. Polygon noted that players should expect some variation from the tabletop rules, as in the original game, but the studio's intent is a faithful mechanical adaptation.

On the rules side, the Early Access build implements Ready Action for single-target spells and weapon attacks. Tactical Adventures stated in a February 2026 update that they intend to expand Ready Action compatibility to most actions over time. Dice-based outcomes, positioning-dependent combat, and spell synergy are all present, carrying forward the tactical identity that made Solasta: Crown of the Magister a cult favorite despite being overshadowed at launch by Baldur's Gate 3.

The sequel runs on Unreal Engine 5, a significant departure from the Unity engine used in the original. The switch brings more detailed environments and more expressive characters, though Tactical Adventures is clear the core experience remains a hardcore tactical simulator.

The narrative centers on a party of four adopted siblings, the Colwall family, drawn back home to the world of Neokos following the death of their mother. That homecoming escalates into an ancestral conflict involving forgotten covenants, fractured faiths, and supernatural forces. The world map is hex-based, with hidden encounters, timed events, unmarked areas, and random elite boss spawns lurking one hex away at any given moment. Voice cast members Amelia Tyler, Ben Starr, Devora Wilde, and Ellen Thomas were previously announced for the project.

The Early Access roadmap promises online co-op multiplayer, additional playable classes and ancestries, more locations, monsters, and quests over the coming year. The main storyline is planned to conclude within the Early Access window at a level cap of 10. Tactical Adventures described the launch as standing "at the bottom of the mountain," with the roadmap outlining the full climb ahead.

The path to Early Access was paved by an unusually long-lived demo. Tactical Adventures originally planned to remove the Tor Wen Steam Next Fest demo after February 2025 but kept it live after realizing, in their words, that "hundreds of thousands" of players were still discovering the game through it. A separate Lost Legacy Demo, still available on Steam, offers a standalone 90-minute prologue called "Escape from the Sunken Tower" that introduces the Colwall siblings and the updated ruleset. Character builds from the demo do not carry over to the Early Access release, but completing it unlocks the Legacy of Neokos cosmetic dice skin for the main game.

Owners of the original Solasta: Crown of the Magister can access a Franchise Bundle for an additional discount. The optional Supporter Pack, priced at $10, adds cosmetic items only. Tactical Adventures was direct about the philosophy: "Think of it as a tip jar, which gives you a few fun cosmetic items as a little thank you.
