Wizards of the Coast Reveals Three D&D Seasons Coming in 2026
Wizards of the Coast has mapped out three D&D seasons for 2026, with modules returning and Gen Con locked in as the annual reveal stage for future roadmaps.

Wizards of the Coast officially outlined its D&D publishing roadmap for 2026 at GAMA Expo, announcing two major sourcebooks, a companion adventure expansion, a slate of accessories, and a new organizational model called "Seasons."
During a press briefing at Gary Con, Head of D&D Franchise Dan Ayoub confirmed the company will use Gen Con as a launching point for future products, with the Season of Champions anchor product set to be revealed there. Starting at Gen Con in 2026, D&D will announce the roadmap for the upcoming year, which will include announcements of upcoming Seasons, new products, and other "stuff" tied to the season. Ayoub also told the press briefing that early feedback for the Seasons has been "fantastic," and attributed the lengthy delay in announcements to "a combination of internal reorganization for the D&D team and a shift in which products would be released in 2026."
The content slate is divided into three waves dubbed "Seasons": the Season of Horror kicks off in June 2026 and celebrates Ravenloft; September 2026 ushers in the Season of Magic with Arcana-focused source materials; and the Season of Champions begins in October 2026, with its products still to be announced.
Season of Horror runs April through the end of June, with Ravenloft: The Horrors Within hitting wide release on June 16. The book will deliver new horror-themed subclasses, species, backgrounds, and Dark Gift feats, along with content around Darklords and Domains of Dread, giving DMs a complete package to build horror-themed campaigns spanning gothic, dark fantasy, cosmic, and occult subgenres. Ravenloft: The Horrors Within will retail for $59.99. Additional Season of Horror accessories arriving in June include a 60-card Tarokka deck compatible with the sourcebook, a Horrors Within DM screen, and a map pack with five double-sided poster maps and two token sheets. Each of those accessories is priced at $24.99.
The Season of Magic delivers two books at once. Arcana Unleashed is billed as "the ultimate guide for D&D magic enthusiasts," with more high-magic character creation options and a new system for magic items. That magic item system is designed to allow items to grow in power as characters level up, something DMs have been house-ruling for years without official rules support. An exact release date has not been confirmed, but the sourcebook is expected in September 2026 and will retail for $49.99.
Paired with it is the adventure module that has the community most excited. Deadfall is a new Red Wizards adventure bringing players back to Thay in the midst of an all-out Wizard War, also set to release in September 2026 and retailing for $29.99. Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall is described as the first full-length adventure content for the new era of D&D, with a price point suggesting a page count closer to Eberron: Forge of the Artificer than older campaign books; it is billed as an "adventure expansion." No level range has been announced. Rounding out the Season of Magic are new reference card decks covering spells, magic items, and monsters, arriving in August 2026; pricing has not yet been revealed. The decks will feature illustrations and content reflecting the 2024 5e Core Rulebook, giving players and DMs a tactile accessory to enhance gameplay.
The return of adventure modules is tied directly to a broader revival of organized play. Wizards announced plans to bring back D&D Encounters, the weekly in-store program it ran from 2010 to 2014, designed to encourage live play in game shops and organize games locally around opening-weekend releases. The Seasons framework will include announcements of upcoming Seasons, new products, and other "stuff" tied to the season, though the exact distribution mechanism for returning modules across Encounters, Adventurer's League, or another program has not yet been confirmed.
The Season of Champions will begin in October and run through December, with its main supporting product to be announced at a later date; it remains unknown whether there will be a gap before seasonal content begins again in 2027. Gen Con is where that answer is supposed to come.
